Are you kids still losing weight??!! Dang...great for ALL of you.
Guess having failed earlier, I can still work on this for the sake of a larger wardrobe! Hmm, and track it!
Very cool! |

I am still trying, and am now down to 222lbs. Now if my left leg functioned properly and enabled me to walk, jog or go bike riding, then I do believe I could lose some more, since my goal is to reach 200lbs.
Here's hoping.

Ahh the young one called me a kid. cool :D If you saw me in real life you wouldn't think i'm overweight, everybody tells me that i'm nuts for trying to trim down. But I am, overweight, not nuts. ;] It seems to be evenly displaced throughout my body and my theory is that I'm more fat inside than out. Our bodies store fat everywhere, not only underneath our skin. My health issues may be due to this fact, who knows?
Thanks for the encouragement. :) |

Congrats to magenmarie and sfarrell23, good news indeedy!
I forgot about this thread. I haven't lost in over two weeks now but I haven't been a good boy lately so I was kind of expecting it. But I am still motivated and am back on track since last week and have been exercising and eating well so I expect to lose more for tomorrow's weigh in.

Didn't think that I would ever join this thread, but to stay the course, and to get support, I am joining.
The reason I am joining is two fold.
First, since July, and ending officially today, I lost 30 pounds. I weighed in at 235 in July, and took a physical this Saturday and found out about the weight lost.
I have lost a whole pants size from a 38 to a 36. I am truly asstounded by this.
Secondly, I want to lose 20 more lbs..
I plan on riding my mountain bike. I plan on some other things as well, but I now have a goal of 185 lbs.

Woohoo, congrats Sandra. Keep it up. We're going to need more motivation with the holidays coming up and all the good food unhealthy, fatty foods to eat. ;] |

I cycle almost every day, although i've been skipping some days due to cold weather. grrr I cycle between 7 and 11 miles and reduce my caloric intake. What I do is create a deficit, about 500 calories a day and I eat high density foods such as nuts and seeds which I sprinkle on salads or in yogurt for energy/protein. I eat the same foods that I was eating before I started seriously exercising this summer, but cut the serving size a little. I eat more often throughout the day and make sure that when I do eat I never consume more than 200 calories except for supper when I go to 400-450 calories but never more than that.
I do not eat any of these foods at all, ever, even before I started the exercise thing this summer:
chips, hotdogs, anything fried, no meat except chicken and salmon, no soft drinks, nothing sweet except for fruit, no baked goods, ... basically, nothing that has zero nutritional value. I haven't had a steak in 10 years. I know that red meat has its nutrients but the disadvantages outweigh them in my case. I need to avoid the big C; cholesterol. It is slowly killing me and I'm trying to slow the process down a bit. eheh ;]
Slip, I'm sure you will. It's only normal to lose motivation, i'm waiting for mine to drop because I know it will, eventually. That's why I'm giving it all I can while I'm still motivated.

I've hit a plateau myself.
A combination of my daughter's schedule and just general life has conspired to make me unable to really keep up my commitment to my health.
It's both demoralizing and depressing to have the exasperating challenge of trying to get back into a regular routine.
I feel crummy....

More or less doing the same thing, but using an appetite depressant high protein drink in the morning for breakfast with a cup of coffee, and I eat all meat and vegetables staying away from white food (bleached), and pastas.
Riding my StumpJumper as well, and throwing in an hour of hacky sack, usually by myself, at the park.

That's all it takes is a little willpower and that extra activity to get it all going. For me, it's biking, but I'm afraid that's going to end abruptly with a good dumping of that crystallized water stuff that tends to stick around these parts for about 5 months or so. ;]
Maybe I could adapt my snowblades to my bike? |

SOOOOOOO...
If I feel that I have plateaued in my weight, and want to reach my goals, what do I do?
If I could just get rid of 9 lbs, I would reach the first part of my goal, leaving me open to the second ambitious part of my self inflicted, killing me slowly, "Get that cookie out of my face" goal.

Reduce your calories even more and/or exercise longer or more intensely. ( I know, quite obvious but it works!) Eat high density calories like nuts and seeds, these contain lots of good fats that keep you energized. You don't need to eat a lot either. As a snack I have 10-15 grams of almonds, walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios, or cashews, all unsalted, of course. Don't overeat though cuz these things can get you gaining weight rather than losing it rather fast. Lots and lots of water too. I find I can drink more if I leave it at room temperature, unless it's a 100 degrees outside. ;] |
