Gotta pass along a stange thing.....I feel for sure now that this turnaround of my lifestyle relative to taking care of myself is really paying off.
I was loading a lawn tractor on the back of a pickup truck Thursday afternoon, and once the front end was up the ramps, the mower deck caught on the tailgate. The rear wheels kept turning, and that kicked the right side ramp off the tailgate, causing the tractor to flip.....with me still on it. I landed square on my back, and the upside-down tractor fell squarely on top of me.
It wasn't a pleasant experience......kinda scared the crap out of me. Funny thing is, that outside of being a little sore, I wasn't hurt, and I feel that it was because I am in better physical shape than I've been in over twenty years. I'm sure there was some luck involved, but I know if this would have happened last year, I would have gotten hurt fairly badly.
Since I've spent the last two days wrestling stuff up and down ladders and shelves, including furniture, I know that if I did damage, I'd sure know it now.
I think I'll continue to take good care of myself......I'm thinking I'll let the younger guys where I work load the tractors from now on, though.....8>)
ETA: Piss-poor math! LOL!!!
ETA II:I have dropped 105 pounds since the 4th of December 2007, gone from a BMI of 43.57 to a BMI of 31.87, a 48 to a 40 inch waist, and my blood pressure as of three weeks ago was 100 over 62.

Way to go, guys!
I didn't lose or gain, so I am still at -10 for the challenge. |

I just had a poo that would've taken me down a pound, but I won't adjust my weigh-in. It can be a head-start for me for next week.

I was away for a week, due to a family crisis (my father had emergency surgery). I'm back now, but due to irregular eating and traveling, I missed the 7/10 weigh in and now I'm right where I was on 7/3 (actually, I weighed myself in the afternoon on Friday, so I may not have gained the .5 lb :)

Hi all,
Just home from our charity bike trip (500-miles, one-week). Just got on the scale too...down (which was an absolute surprise).
Total down 12.2 lbs. Now standing at 166.4.
Woooooohoooooo.
PS: I did not ride the bike, I was the videographer's assistant. And you know I may have just found myself another hobby too.

Okay, I'm "out."
I'm still keeping up with the challenge, and I will still be following ya'lls progress and donate accordingly, but. . .
my husband saw the need to change the batteries in the scales this morning. Everybody in the house gained between 10 and 25 pounds over night. (The batteries were over 10 years old. If your scales require batteries, maybe change them every year?)
So, I don't know if I've lost, gained or what. :(
According to the "fresh" scales, I'm back to square one.
Was wondering why my clothes were starting to fit differently.

karmat, you could ignore the absolute number on the scale and just continue to tack on loss/gain #'s, continuing from your last weight. I think that sounds fair. You shouldn't give up over a tech issue. :-(

That makes sense. I was at -10, so if I lose 2 more this week (despite the 20 pound gain), I would just post -12.
I just don't know if the first 10 was truly a loss though. |

Maybe your scale was just calibrated wrong, or it's calibrated wrong now. I don't know if its calibration would slide 10 pounds over a couple of months, that just doesn't seem right to me. I say keep the minus ten and forge ahead! -or- tack the minus ten onto your adjusted-up wieght, and forge ahead. Just forge ahead. It's all relative.

Put the old batteries back for the next two weeks to keep the perspective consistent.
I hardly think that the differential would be anything but linear, so it's just throwing the numbers off, not actually recording differently.
You can't bail on us now, that'd just be wrong!........................8~)

The old batteries don't work. My husband was weighing himself and it stopped working all together.
Next time, we won't wait 10 years to change. :P |

Off topic, but what ride were you on? I'm just curious because I'm looking for a ride for next year! |

Anchor House Ride for Runaways. A one-week, 500-mile, bicycle ride to benefit a home for abused teens in the Trenton NJ/eastern central PA area. I'll send you a link in a PM. Great group of riders, they raise nearly $500,000 with this ride and that supports the house for about 6 months.

I am not going to make my goal of 24 pounds, but on no level am I unhappy about losing what I have......nothing at all wrong with losing almost twenty pounds since the beginning of May.
Thanks!
I'd certainly like to propose a round of raucous cheers to karmat for instituting this fun side challenge.
It's much more enjoyuable and rewarding to do this kind of thing with friends.
My personal congrats and best wishes to all on their continuing commitment to better eating, health, and all 'round physical condition.
BTW, if we didn't make our own goal, does that automatically means we're out of the big competition?.......8>)

Nah. We'll figure something out next Friday.
:)
I'm going to go weigh now -- ugh. I did lose a pound, but the scales read 23 pounds heavier than they did (see earlier post as to why).
I'm working on setting my next goal. I'm thinking of doing a 100 day something. |

Screw everyone else, I'm going to keep posting to this thread until I hit 185. My goal is to get there in the spring/summer of 2009.
I started at 265 on April 1st.
