This is a little late, but...

The night of the Silence deadline, I did my shot in the last hour. This is the shot I submitted about 15 minutes before the deadline:

What I was going for was to have the feather falling, just before hitting the surface, thus the title "Softly Silence Falls" (the title and concept came first, the photo was attempted to meet the title). With 15 minutes to go, I picked a good capture (the feather had been dropped, but had already hit), processed and posted. Then I continued attempting to capture the falling feather. At the last minute I finally got this one:

But, by the time I got it finished, it was about a minute past the deadline.

Obviously (or not?), finishing in 8th place, I'm very happy with the results, so there's no complaint here. I'm simply curious: comparing these two shots, which do you think is the better picture, taking into account the title/concept? Does the quality (relative clarity? - due mostly to the fact that it was still) of the submitted image outweigh the fact that the second shot captured the falling feather, and better fits the title?

I like the second one a little bit better, because you can see that its falling. And I think a falling feather conveys silence much more than just a feather laying there.

Both are great though.

I agree, second one is better because you can definitely tell it's falling. Timing is everyting!

I also like the second photo a little better, but probably there is not enough of a difference to change the points allocated. If the photos were given points fro 100 maybe there would be a difference, but in my points scale there is a dramatic difference between a photo that gets an 8, a 7 or a 6.
