If anyone is interested, I just uploaded a few new photos - taken last week - in a new collection (2008 pics) in my portfolio.

I'll echo the "if anyone is interested" bit - I'm slowly but surely sticking some vacation snapshots into this month's folder. |

1. I am sucking at 5.3600, which is a good score for me
2. Yesterday, I came home to a flooded kitchen floor because the faucet leaks and the drain broke
3. I asked questions, read some online and replaced the whole damn thing by 8 PM last night...sink, faucet, hot/cold water tubes
4. Moment of glory - everything still works!!! No leaks!
...a little proud moment to share, since it all works ...YAY! |

Hey Team Suck, now that the bike challenge is over I have created a thread "Love to have your help" in which I'm asking people to help support Anchor House. Anchor House is a home for runaway/abused children that is mainly supported by a charity bike ride in July. Ride for Runaways
Thanks, for letting me selfishly plug this charity and my involvement with it.

Thanks for comments, guys! Kelli, that bridge is WAY up there - I don't think I want to know how far, really. WAY up there. Barbara, the out the window shot is from the castle, not the church, and the views from there are incredible. I'll try to put up one or two more of the views from the place. I'm sure it has at least one ghost. King Ludwig, the guy who built the place (and apparently he did much of the design for it himself) was most likely killed, although the official story is he committed suicide. The castle is really quite "modern" as far as castles go - built in the late 1800s. The walls are painted with murals depicting the stories of Wagner operas, with a few religious scenes thrown in. Nice place!
When I get a chance, I'll put up some from Vienna as well. Oh, and the "wildflowers" in the Meadow Church's meadow picture are known as "Bavarian tulips" - they cover the fields in massive numbers in the Bavarian part of Germany in the spring. Really gorgeous. They're also known as "dandelions". :-) |

I'm sure it's all downhill from here, but I'm finding it quite ironic that the second I join Team Suck I start getting quite good scores!! |
The measure of true suckdom is the ability to score a 6 and a 3 in close proximity. Only the brave (or foolish) attempt this challenge.

That is a pretty damn cool range of scores! That said, you do seem to be scoring rather more than your fair share of 6+ this year! |

hehe, well I'm about to commit dpc suicide with my free study entry, so I may yet satisfy the requirements for true suckdom! |

A 6? I think they're just a figment of my imagination. LOL! In all the years I've been here, I've only had one. Now 3's are a whole 'nother story. Got plenty of them, and my current entry will finish there. |

Is it just me or have there been very few oobie nominations recently? If so, I think it's a real shame as it's a great award to receive. How about a campaign for people to get nominating again? |

my bad.
here's the scoop: yes, oobie nominations seem to have slowed to a crawl lately I don't know why that is, but apart from that I've been hellaciously busy for the last few weeks and haven't been able to attend to the balloting, so I have a bit of a backlog, as far as actually awarding the OOBIE. I'm leaving on a long trip tomorrow, so I'll jump back into the balloting after June 1st. In the meantime, by all means keep nominating, they'll all go onto their respective week's ballots eventually!

Eck, I dunno, I get a camera and everything and am all thinking "yeah, now I can get back into dpc again". And what do they do? The challenges are Portraits (possibly my least favourite area. I could maybe do a cat portrait but so cliche) and boats (we live in the middle of the country). They really don't make it easy! |

There are days....
So remember I ordered a car so I could transport my dad and his wife around while they were here? They left yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon I got an email that the car would be here today. Fine. So. I go to registration, spend an hour there (lots of customers, not very many employees). Run up to the base to pick up something at the commissary but remember I can't pick up food because it will sit for awhile. Go to the bank - wait half an hour there. Lots of customers, one employee. Park the truck at work, gather all my paperwork, go to the car guy just outside the gate. Give them all my paperwork. Go look at my car. It's a car. Cool headlights. Sit. Wait. Play games on the Blackberry. Think I should have brought a book or something. They're waiting on a call from their head office that all is good, but time is running out. The German customs office (next stop in the paperwork drill) won't take anyone after 2 pm. We wait more. No call. Finally, it's 10 after 2, so I gather up my stuff, but before I can leave, the dealer guy tells me that one piece of paperwork has to be re-done - there's a word wrong or something. Like he couldn't tell me this the hour or so prior when he looked at it?? So, not only do I not have a car, I have to go back to an office on base and re-do paperwork I did over two weeks ago, thinking the car would be in then.
Maybe Monday.
How does one fix horribly sucky (and not in a good way) karma?? |

At this point, I could care less about getting the car. Then again, I pretty much just don't really care in general. Hopefully that will pass... :-) |

I hope so! Though it's not always as easy as that. I've been living under a black cloud for a while. I'm still waiting for the sun. I've typed this and deleted this like 3 times, you really sound depressed Deb. If you wanna talk, pm me and we can yahoo. |

Well, Iâm back from my whirlwind tour of the Dallas area. I had a great time. Went there for a wedding and it was perfect and I had the chance to see relatives that I donât get to see very often. I wish I would have had more time but you know how that goes.
We did make it to the âSixth Floor Museumâ in Dallas. It was a very sobering experience. My daughter, who is only 25 years old, had some tears running down her cheeks and I said to her, âWhat do you think?â and she said âWowâ.
[thumb]680339[/thumb] [thumb]680340[/thumb]
We did get the chance to make it to a Rangers games against the Astros. The Rangers lost 5-4 but it was a good game. Lots of action.
[thumb]680342[/thumb] [thumb]680343[/thumb]
I also got a shot of the Cowboyâs new stadium from the ball park. From what I understand, a lot of fans are upset at the new prices for tickets.
[thumb]680346[/thumb]
Our next excursion was to Fort Worth and I figured while I was there, I wanted a big ole steak dinner. Well, we found the right place and the dinner was great. Really neat local atmosphere.
[thumb]680344[/thumb]
After dinner, we cruised around the stockyards area of Fort Worth.
[thumb]680348[/thumb]
And of course, what would a trip to the stockyard area be without visiting Billy Bobâs.
[thumb]680351[/thumb]
I would sure hate to pay their electric bill.
[thumb]680354[/thumb]
Couldnât miss the bull ring inside the bar. Yes, real bulls, not mechanical.
[thumb]680352[/thumb] [thumb]680357[/thumb]
On Monday before we left for the airport, we visited Grapevine, Texas. Very neat little town but the 96 degrees was a tad warm for me.
[thumb]680358[/thumb]
I was so thrilled when I got back to Michigan and the temperature was 60. Now thatâs the way summer should be.
All in all, it was a great time and I would like to come back when I have more time to see things and maybe even look up some DPC members. |
