Here is what I intended to submit to the silence challenge before I realized it was basic editing :( I didn't have time to reshoot the photo the way I would have for basic editing and as you can see this version is much more striking assuming you aren't a stickler for photographic integrity.

anyone else? I think it's an interesting example of the ongoing editing rules conflict.

I like the one you submitted better. This is very interesting but it does cross over the line for me.. :)

Don`t get me started on editing rules :)

My submission was bombarded with DQ requests..it got to the point where I began to believe I had misread the rules.

The comments I received were interesting in the respect that one would tell me that I had ruined the image by using selective desaturation...the next comment would say how much better it made the whole thing ??

Everything considered, you would go mad trying to cater for everybody..the main thing is that you like the image you have produced and that you are not taking pictures that you do not believe in or enjoy just to please the majority.

Gordon.

For what it`s worth.. I like your outtake.

I really like your outtake, it's very striking and artistic. You were right for submitting what you did though (other than the rules being what they are for basic challenges) as it might to arty for some. But still very very good.

Gordon: I really liked your silence entry a lot. I liked the feeling that the desaturation gave it. I got a dq request for my unedited silence entry too :) I think getting conflicting feeback is fun, just proves you can't be out to try to please everyone. Thanks for looking.
