How many landscapes there are in the challenges? Perhaps too much! but there is another way for capture landscapes. Build in your home a landscape and submit it! You must build the scene as you build the still life! mounts, rivers, trees all the components of the landscape can be in the frame. |

I like it!
Am I grasping this right we build a landscape out of random objects or whatever we want. Like a lake of jelly set against a Toblerone mountain range. Sounds like fun and I bet we see some interesting results, plus lots of cotton wool sheep and pipe cleaner trees.

No. That will never work. DNMC! DNMC, I tell ya!
...kidding. Sounds like a grand idea.
What about an octopuss' garden in the sea? How about a Civil War diorama? Gumdrop bushes and lollipop trees? Mmmmm... gumdrops... |

I thought about entering this challenge, but then it would be a lot of effort to make the landscape I had in mind (even with broccoli trees ;-Þ) - and also, it's only basic editing... But only 32 entries so far, it obviously seems too hard for many people. |

strongly insisted!
But then please answer this:
Where should we make the main effort: in making the scene or shooting a photo that tells a story?

I chose Centered Composition... this Homemade Landscape is too tricky for me... But best of luck to the few who entered! |

As did most people... is this the most one sided pair of Exclusive Open Challenges ever? Currently it 243 entries in Centred Composition versus 32 in Homemade Landscapes... 7.6 to 1. Wow!

Focus on the quality of the image! Too many people spend a great deal of effort in the setup or the props or the model and take a crappy photo and wonder why they scored so low. The reverse is also true though. ...so I guess I've been of no help here.
Enter centered composition! :) |
