So I lost a kitty last night......he was about 15, and for the last four months or so, I'd been cooking chicken tenders and tearing them up for him since he had not teeth.

He had lived a rich and full life; I figure we probably had those last few months as a gift to say goodbye to him. He had some kind of massive siezure in front of my wife last night, who picked him up and held him in her lap for about a half an hour where he rested quietly, then let go.

He was a good ol' man and I'll miss him.

They get 9 lives and then live forever - after leaving us behind :(

Jeb, so sorry to hear about your cat. He knows you did the best you could for him and appreciates the love and care you gave him all during his life and during the last few months. And he chose Good Friday to leave you.

*hugs to all*

Well, I have a mug shot, but expect it will only score in the 4s. I'm thinking that something will have to be really funny, wacky, or scary to do well.

Me too...

Jeb, sorry to hear about all the bad luck befalling your family of late. Here's some positive vibes coming your way.

I hope you're right Juli...I think I hit all 3 of those! :P

Jeb, I am very sorry to hear of your cat passing on. The way that you fed him the last few months gives great insight into how much you loved him, and I am sure he knew that. Do you have a picture of him?

My heart goes out to you. You think that you have hardened and won't miss them and then you cry like crazy when they are gone.

That was funny, Shez. (And I can relate.)

Jeb, so sorry about your kitty. You'd think in this day and age they could find ways to engineer it so our pets live longer. It really seems far too short to have them with us, but then there are more that will weasel their ways into your hearts, while the ones that have passed will stay there forever. Life just wouldn't be the same without them, that's for sure!

I'm eagerly awaiting the return of Fearless Leader and his better half to see their views of Paris. In the meantime, for a much more pedestrian view of England (or a few parts of it anyway), you can go here to see and read about my adventures last week.

I'm not currently in any challenges, nor do I have anything for Mug Shot. May have something for an open, but not sure on that yet either. Kinda odd not having anything on the left side of my home page.

I entered Peeps. First entry in a couple of months. I miss not having a score to check--even the lowly 4's and 5's. I am going to try to enter the Free Study this month.

Harsh results are up in the results thread. Congrats to xianart for the top score!

Lea, I'm sorry for your family's history with this disease, and I'm scared for you. But know that my grandmother beat it twice, and her sister also beat it. So it can be done.

As the old saying goes, try not to borrow trouble. If it's something to worry about, you'll know soon enough. Until then, and I know this is very hard, try to ignore it.

Play with your kids, kiss your husband, bury yourself in shooting photos, whatever it takes.

And know we're thinking of you.

Just finished voting on mugshots...many good ones there. Think I have a shot for patterns.
03/24/2008 06:35:46 PM · #969
I'm in for patterns. It sucks. I hope a few suckers will like it, though.

My mugshot shot is sitting at 4.2, with 1 comment. The comment is essentially a DNMC, and comes from a sucker.

Enviro Portrait is doing just slightly better, at 4.5, with 5 comments.

And my Peeps is leading the pack, at a whopping 4.7.

Odd, since I felt my Peep was the poorest photo of the lot, and the mugshot the strongest !

I'm at a whopping 5.1 in Fences......a shot that I think is one of my better efforts aesthetically.

I'm having every second thought in the book about my Free Study submission......I need to leave it be, but it's making me twitch.

My fences:

I think the voters have continually woke up on the wrong side of the fence all week! Or maybe I think the scores area always better on the other side of the fence? That score makes me feel kinda fenced in. (feel free to add your own cliche)

Can I make a suggestion?

Since our Team Suck family lends support to each other through personal life events as well as photography related issues, do you think we can maybe move our next thread to the "personal life" section instead of the "side challenges"? The way I understand it is that in the personal life section it can only be read by registered members of DPC, so that any personal issues discussed are not bare naked to the world, as well as the fact that the personal life section (because of needing to be signed in) does not get picked up by search engine spiders so it will never end up showing when someone does a google for my user name for example. (I use the same user name for many things, as I am sure many of us do)

What say you, the members of TS?
03/25/2008 03:02:20 PM · #974
Are we all members? That would be a very big factor.

you have to be a member to post to this thread or enter any challenges, so yes, we are. :) You do not have to be a "paid member", just a registered member of the site.
