Should I put up all my cool pictures in my portfolio or no? Should I enter as many contests as I can, or should I lurk more? |

You only get a cool portfolio if you are a member ;)
Otherwise, you have only your challenge entries (1 a week) that will stay in your portfolio here.
As far as entering challenges, go for it!! :)
Enter every one you can!!
OH, and welcome to DPCHALLENGE!! |

Yeah, welcome, I think you'll enjoy it a lot, best way to do it is try out the open challenges, and if you like it, get a membership and enter all that you want.

There are 2 routes you could go:
1. Lurk and learn from reading.
2. Enter as many contests as you can. Get a bunch of critiques (both good and bad).
With both, you meet a lot of neat people. Either way, you win. I would suggest entering some challenges. Also, ask a lot of questions and check out the How'd they do that and the Tutorials. |

Remember, your cool pictures can't be entered in challenges -- they must be taken in the time frame of the challenge. Also, as a registered user, you can enter one of the two weekly "exclusive open challenges" (that's what the exclusive means). As a member, you can enter one open challenge and the member challenge each week. |

Welcome to DPCHALLENGE. As long as your not allergic to "NUTS" you'll fit right in.
All the best and good luck.

I have returned. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)
Cos I'm too busy to click each of your profiles, how long have you been on dpchallenge and what is your "day job" if you have one. Just as a BTW student counts as a job, cos I'm a student (History and Secondary Ed major). |

I've been here since last August. I'm not a pro photog by any stretch of the imagination. I work with color printer/copiers as a product manager and 2nd level tech geek for the stuff that the help desk can't answer. (Like if some body calls in and says "Macintosh")
Welcome and don your thickest skin before venturing into the fray!

I have been here for 2 years and I flip houses when I am not goofing off. Currently I am building a storage/work shop/office in my back yard.

I'm a not so old retired guy, that loves photography, and is just a serious amateur. |

I've entered the one about eyes and haven't been able to think of a clever one for bread or panning so I'm eagerly awaiting the next challenge. I'm really psyched, my friend is trading me his really nice 50mm lens for my 18-55mm one for about a month. It'll be nice to use a new lens, haha |
