Anyone know the scoop? I searched for a thread where he might've said goodbye, but didn't find one.

There were a couple comments in the discussion of the time lapse rules that showed he was upset about something, then I seem to recall one saying he was out of here, and within an hour or two he WAS outta here.

eta; found the thread... his comment was actually, "whatever. you win." and before the thread was done he was gone....

Part of his issue I think was his DQ in the time lapse challenge:


DPC should have five day "cooling off" period before honoring account removal requests. :)

Hi Ken, it really was 5 days before his request was honored, and we usually do allow a "cooling off" period in situations like this.

Thanks Laurie - Well, RG wasn't voted "Most likely never to cool off" for no reason. I'm a bit sad for him and will admit I'll miss him. Why people take this place so seriously is beyond me. :/

Yeah I am gonna miss RG too. I was just starting to understand where he was coming from and realizing he was an OK dude not just a poo starter. Later Mr.666

Yeah I'll miss him too, he always had something to say and usually worth paying attention to, not to mention he was quite a decent photographer.

He was definitely a different kind of guy.

During the last WPL season (not the DPL season), he was on our team. When the next season started, he would not return any PMs and would not reply to anything our captain sent him. We simply wanted to know if he wanted to remain on the team for this new "DPL" league. He, quite frankly, "went dark" and ignored us. IMO, this was very inconsiderate. I can only hope that he could not connect to the internet for some reason beyond his control--that could have explained it.

Also, after perusing his forum history, I find that a great many of his posts were negative and condescending. I have nothing against folks speaking their mind and being opinionated (who isn't?), but sometimes, I believe he should learn how to throttle that behavior. FWIW, I believe it was him just being him.

He helped us with our calendar... provided 2 shots for it, actually. He helped when others were having upload issues with their photos due to a number of reasons. He got a lot of the publicity going up where he lives. He was paid nothing but recognition and friendship. He didn't complain and was the first one done.

I, for one, will miss him. He was a good guy and an amazing photographer. I just hope he keeps in touch.

Ah, what a bummer. He could be a little bit spikey but he always had such an honest and unique opinion on things - they were always worth hearing even if they weren't always pretty.

I agree with Art, though - you can't take this place too seriously - it's the intarweb and intarweb is SO not real life.

I didn't really know the guy but he came VERY close to being our new team member.. we'de of been looking again by now.. I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do, have a few months off refresh and come back

Completely agree. He definitely brought his personal edge to the site. I, for one, never had an issue with him... and enjoyed his comic relief. I don't think a lot of people saw his sense of humor (especially those new to the site). More importantly, he'd progressed quite far in his photography during the short time that I "knew" him.

Geesh. This thread sounds like a eulogy.

Guess since it's in 'General Discussion' instead of 'Member Discussion' he can get a good laugh if he happens to drop by for a visit. :-)

Rguy- I know you are looking down on us from wherever you are. Just know I'll always hold close the last comment you gave me on my Time Lapse entry. :P

If I had more time I'd write an obit.
