Other lenses work ok, only this one does not focusing.

Anybody has any idea what could happen.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the lens?

This has happened to me before, as well. Check the buttons on the left side of the lens (if it's on the camera) and make sure you have it on Auto-focus instead of Manual focus. Sometimes when you slip it in the camera bag it clicks over on you.

What she said; that's the obvious solution. Make sure the lens is set to AF, not MF.

Too slow... LOL

I had an issue with my old D200 and had to send it back to Nikon UK then a string of events led to my switching to Canon, I hope you have better luck than I did.. make sure you get the sensor checked before sending to them (they scratched mine) do it through a store too. UK was a nightmare I'm sure you will have better luck.

My original fault was down to the D200's contact panel had moved and had torn a connector (they said) it was replaced under warranty after sending it to them 2 times.

Kwiktor, another thing that sometimes happens is that when handling the camera or putting it in the bag, sometimes the quick-release button gets pressed a bit, and the lens becomes a bit loose. Take the lens off, and put it back on making sure it's set tight and correctly.

I did this, still nothing

If you shake the lens, do you hear anything moving around inside?
01/01/2008 01:50:52 PM · #13
not really,

Does the lens also have a AF/MF switch?

take it in to the LCS and see if they have any clues.

I only ask cause on the my Sigma Version with OS, there is a Switch for Auto Focus and Manual Fcous on the lens....Do you have the camera and lens set for auto focus?

OK...Take a deep breath....turn the camera off ans walk away for a bit. Be Calm....Come back in a bit. Take the battery out. Take the lens off. Wipe the connectors. Reattach the lens. Put the battery back in. Just make sure all the switches are where you wnnt them....Turn the camera on and see what happens. Sometimes leaving it alone for a bit helps.....Good luck...Keep calm and breathe deep.
