Well, crap. Double crap. And carp, too. Let me add in carp.

I can't get to flickr from the computer I use here - blocked by the network, dontchaknow.

Carp. Catfish.

Damn.

Can't someone tell him that by gosh there's a whole torrent of folks who would REALLY REALLY like him to keep his stuff here? Don't punish us (well, OK, me, since I can't access flickr) by leaving because of a few not so thoughtful people...

Sniff. This makes me very sad.

Just for the record, there were no incidents with comments that SC was aware of (meaning we didn't hide any recently) and boysetsfire had marked every single one of them helpful, which they seemed to be.

This is his DPC Obituary...or Memorial.

Now that we found drewmedia, the topic for next week's challenge can be "Where in the world is boysetsfire?" Except for this one the goal will be to closely emulate his style.

That would be a great tribute and hopefully everyone would learn something in the process!

To tell folks where you're going when you leave, so that we don't have to send out the search parties.

Should let Nick be the juror for that challenge...now that would be cool.

I really like this idea, and hope one day DPC will do this..... His work is totally UNIQUE and worth the chance to immulate his style. So sad to see him gone.....

I think it is about time he left. I mean what did he expect to get posting a bunch of dark, obscure shots. It is as though he was out to undermine the credibility of DPC. At least try to get ribbons by posting shots that could win. Perhaps if he had paid attention to the forums where the real stars of DPC tell others how to get ribbons, or at least studied carefully their styles. His blatant disregard for the true meaning of DPC is what forced him out. Nothing less.

Ultimately it was his inability to accept the true meaning of DPC that made it impossible for him to continue. Perhaps certain members of the SC could act as Site Therapists to help photographers who don't fit in here, perhaps through a series of intense chat sessions, tutorials and assimilation exercises, teach them to love the way of DPC, to accept and even embrace the Blue Ribbon Standard, to focus in a healthy way on what works and abandon modes that cause only frustration and failure. Imagine how the site as a whole would be enriched if we could raise up the few misfits who make things uncomfortable for everybody else.
