We have the "This comment was helpful" check box for comments left on our photos, but I would like to see a similar box for the photographer's comments. A lot of people leave it blank, but there's a few who put a lot of effort into describing their post processing and/or setup.

Often times the detailed comments can lead to learning and inspiration. One of the very first photos to inspire me and a great example is this one by SherwinJames.

I'll be the first to admit, that I usually only fill that box out for challenge photos. I think it would add a bit of a reward if there was a little tally bar on the photo stats for people who have found your own comment helpful.

Good idea. Would be nice to have a stat page for the pics with the most "ticks".

To poke a hole in my own idea...

If the photographer went back and changed their comment, they'd lose all those "helpful" tallies. I know a lot of ribbon winners go back and update their comments after the challenge is over to thank everyone.

Maybe I should also request a post challenge comment box, heh.

Well, noone can see the photog's comments during a challenge and I doubt many people will go back to delete details, so no need to untick if the details are amended.

I realize that voters can't see the comments until the challenge is over, but the photographer may not be someone who sits waiting for rollover. If they want to modify their comments a couple days later to say "thank you", they'll lose the tallies. As it is now with voters' comments, if you change your spelling you lose your helpful tag until the photographer notices and retags it as helpful again.

why does everything needs an award?

I like the idea in general but especially with Leroy's (fotomann_forever) suggestion that there could be a page with top picks.

As a slight modification, perhaps it could be a new type of Favorite category. "Add this to my Useful images." I have used my Favorites in the past for this purpose but then the useful and just-because images get mixed up together. This way I'd be able to find them more quickly and the photographer would know why I selected it.
