I'm out. My daughter's last tourney is the 8th. It is held here, so I will be either running the scoring or helping at the concessions. In addition to shooting a few hundred shots of the action. Let me know when we will be doing Madison. You guys be sure to check out Delany's on the other side of Sauk too, awesome place.

Weather forecast for the weekend is looking pretty good right now though Sat. morning could be on the chilly side.

Does anybody have an actual address for the eagle viewing area where we're meeting? Just so I can scope out the exact spot??

I'll be there between 7 and 7:15
03/04/2008 10:15:33 PM · #154
Lookin' good... no storms on the horizon, nice cool weather should mean some activity... and mmmm, breakfast!
03/04/2008 10:43:04 PM · #155
John, you were saying a few days back how you will beat everyone there, Then you trust us to give you the address?

Look for 321 Urlost Ave. haha.

I got this feeling that if you blink you could miss the whole town So it can't be too hard to locate. Ill be getting there before you so you'll have a guide via cell if you cant find the place.

You're gonna beat me there?

It'll be a cold day in Prairie du Sac....

Ur, never mind.

I was talking with a co-worker today who is very familiar with the area, and she advised me that eagle activity peaks very early in the morning. Once they are done feeding, they basically just hang out in the trees most of the day. She tells me that 06:00 is the time to really be out there to catch the start of the activity, and they are already starting to settle back in the trees by 07:30 (!). That would imply an 03:30 departure for me, which heaven help me I am actually thinking about doing.

That reinforces my instinct and hunch too. I'm likely to be up there for prime time (~5 am).

My wife reminded me lastnight that our daughters have a skating lesson at Noon on Saturday, At least one parent is required to be present, My wife has other plans, So Ill have to bug out around 10:45 at the latest so I can make it back here before noon to do the skate thing. Which fwiw provides a nice daddy/daughter photo opp.

FWIW Bugz, I'll be leaving sometime that morning too. My plan is to shoot eagles with the gang, eat some vittles, maybe do a little townie shooting around PduS, and then take off. I've got some obligations that afternoon myself.
03/06/2008 08:35:31 AM · #163
I've kinda got some of the same Saturday afternoon issues, so about 10:30 or 11:00 is probably about it for me... this is starting to sound like the "hit & run&" GTG!
03/06/2008 08:49:40 AM · #164
Ok let me fraze that, I wont be leaving early. Instead, Ill be leaving when you guys leave. lol

Looks like it's Ed, Fritz, Brian and me, and I'll be bringing a non-DPC friend, Mark.
03/06/2008 09:17:38 AM · #166
I remember Mark from the Balloon Launch. It would take one hell of a bribe to get any of my friends out of bed that early in the day (especially a saturday) to stand outside in the cold and take pictures. Even the guys with cameras would probably laugh me out of town if I suggested it. I have friends that get up that early to shoot but then they want to eat what they shoot.

Yep, Mark is the guy from the balloon day, and Fritz has done some astro-shooting with us before too. I just heard from Mark and he will not be joining us after all, something about a meeting with his accountant for taxes.

Sunrise is at about 6:23 or so, I'll be there by then for sure, thermos of hot something by my side.

Just a warning, y'all are going to have to endure some candid portraiture at breakfast; I just took delivery of my Canon 135/2.0 L yesterday, and it needs a workout!

Not to worry, I bought an Ugly Filter to go with it... tested it on myself today and it worked, so it *has* to be industrial strength!

Hey Brian, I'm setting up my Garmin for tomorrow, but can't find Urlost Ave in PduS. Can you help??

It'll be cold folks, dress appropriately!

It is going to be mighty cold out in the morning, make sure you all dress toasty. Hopefully the wind dies down a little. It is or was really whipping out there this afternoon.

Going to charge my batteries up now and try to get a few hours sleep. See you guys in the morning.
