OK...quick question: Is it the higher or lower number of aperture the one that allows for more of the subject (Say large groups of people) to all be in focus? Also, I've heard people refer to certain apertures being 'sweet spots'...can someone clarify on that? |

Higher aperture number will allow more things to be in focus. f/8 allows more to be in focus than f/2. Sweet spots are usually the middle range of apertures for a given lens, usually between f/8 and f/11.

Most sweet spots are two stops above wide open. If you have an f/2.8 lens, the sweet spot is normally at f/5.6. If you have an f/4 lens, its' normally at f/8.
