Did any of ye land lubbers see the Pirate special of Myth Busters a few weeks ago? - the eyepatch REALLY had a practical use -

The eyepatch would help you see in the dark. The uncovered eye would see best in the sunlight but once you move into the dark or darkness it takes at least a good 30 minutes for the Rods & Cones in your eyes to adjust to night vision. The pirate would simply move the eye patch from the covered eye to the uncovered one and he/she would instantly have night vision thereby helping give the upperhand in a battle below decks in the dark.

Some astronomers do the same thing, they use one eye for walking around, but keep the other covered by a patch. The covered eye they use to look through the telescope.

I tried wearing a patch while I take photos and found that if you have it on the wrong eye it doesn't work too well!

My pirate name is:
Mad Ethel Bonney

"Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!"

My name is Black Jenny Flint

Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, I can be pessimistic at times. Like the rock flint, I'm hard and sharp. But, also like flint, I'm easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!
Here is me crew:

My pirate name is:

Captain Jenny Kidd

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

Well, yo ho me mateys. Hoist the main sail ye scurvy dawgs!

(I always knew I should be in charge of everything!!!!)

I found out, by experimentation, that wearing two does not make it twice as effective.
