How about auto email notifications if a post/reply you created in the forums was quoted or your username referenced (either image link or username link)? It could be a user preference selection that can be turned on/off for those that don't want it.

You can always use the search function to search your own username from time to time (more if you are paranoid) to see where your name or username is mentioned on the site. :)
