a blur gallery is a good idea because when you're looking for galleries to put your completely fuzzy photo in you find Abstract right away, but then...
you keep going down the list...
portrait? how should I know? landscape? can't tell! rural? you gotta be kidding me... if it's not black and white, you're sunk! |

It needs an 'arty' category, or 'misunderstood' ? ;)
maybe we could petition for 'visual genius' as a category ?
'Zeitgeisty revelation' ?

Blur Gallery! What a fabulous idea!! It might broaden the horizons regarding intentional blur and the beauty of it. |

I see no call for a Blur category. There s no category for 1/500th sec shutter speed, or ISO 800.
If the only thing that defines your photo is the mechanics, you've probably started barking up the wrong tree anyway. Hallucinogenic, rambling prose notwithstanding.
The categories are about the subject of the image. Failing the ability to clearly quanitfy that, there is Abstract. |

it could just be a more generic 'Brit-Pop' category ? |

ART, Misunderstood and Visual Genius - I think that sums Mr ROFLMAO up quite nicely. I'm sure he would be delighted with his own gallery :- )
And while we're at it, I'd also like to see textures, abstract, and blur

Too many categories just makes the gallery cluttered.
However, too few categories makes for shoehorning images into galleries that they don't really belong to.
Creating the right number of categories is the challenge.
I agree, textures, abstracts and blur could be candidates for new categories.

Actually, I think a better, more general category would be "Photo Impressionism"
Personally, to me, that's the genre which intentional blur generally falls into. And yet it's more broad than that (and not currently covered, since I consider abstract a little different). |

But blur includes things such as panning and so on that are not really photo-impressionism, and photo-impressionism doesn't have to have motion or blur in it. I think two new galleries, "blur" and "photo-impressionism" would be a very happy addition to the site. |

These both have merit has distinct categories. Somewhere in there, there is the idea of capturing 'time' or 'long exposure' (or longer than normal exposure for the particular subject, it all being relative)
