I guess I'm glad the rookie only brings the bait...and doesn't have to pick up the tab!

I vote for the vans. If we need to cast out any bait, throw out the person that screwed up the reservations (not Robin, the person at Fossil Rim).

Glen they have bait buckets on the back end. Look at the pics :)

ROFLMAO

Penny and I were totally surprised at how busy this place was at 9:30am! The Parking lot was almost full.

All the more reason to get there early and STAKE (steak) out our territory (vans). It'll be a real hoot to see 15 fotogs with tri-mounted gear trying to get the "position" shot of Calvus "negotiating" with the Fossil Rim folks. At 6'4" and onery too boot, stressed on peer pressure, I hope Texas has a 911 system. The paramedics or Sheriff's department might be needed. Hell, the animals will be docile and laying on their backs wanting their tummies rubbed by the time we get rolling. They will have heard the "rath" of bowana Calvus, via the "grapevine".

Seriously......I really am geeked about this trip. I just hope you all forgive me my ideosyncracies. The Mrs. has done so for over 25 years.

Regards,

Flash

This is Penny, I was just read the message below and what surprises me is that you guys have not met him yet and hit the nail on the head the first time. He will be stressed and I would like a copy of that shot and I am glad that we do have 911, I will be sure to carry my phone.

I just called to make reservations at the Dinosaur Valley Inn & Suites since Im driving up from Houston to Fossil Rim the night before our little adventure.

They said all they have available is the presidential suite and she would let me have it of ONLY $318 a night..... uhhh NO I will pass thank you...

so if any of you get there early Saturday morning, please come knock on my truck window to wake me up.... its a white chevy trailblazer with a Big Bend sticker and an Astronomy club sticker on the back window...lol

I may try a few hotels a little futher south and get up just a little earlier to get there in time.

Flash it was great to finally talk on the phone we look forward to a longer conversation the next time :)

Fossil Rim called me twice this week and we have the vehicle situation all ironed out. We are getting the 3 private guides, 2 open air vans (one with cover and one without) and one open air jeep.

They were very nice and worked hard at making everything work out in the end.

I have been very busy this week what with Fossil Rim and the upcoming Art Show/Sale. Sorry If I have not kept everyone up to date.

See you all Saturday :)

My uncle may come along, but he won't be shooting. I won't know until the morning of. Think that's a problem?

I'm planning on bringing my big case with most of my lenses and cameras. Even my pentax 67 system...

Brent that is no problem at all it would just cost an additional $50.00 for his fee for the tour. The park will charge me for the exact person count on the tour.

That's alright, as they will be tempered by the constraints of canon law ...

Maybe we should have named this the "Canon Photo Safari"

ROFLMAO

We are off this morning to meet FLASH! in Fort Worth Texas for a shoot today. Really a bit nervous meeting the big guy :)

Don't forget to ask the big guy upstairs for nice weather :) Right now I have heard three different reports :)

Forecast is looking a bit damp for Saturday morning - thunderstorms and stuff. Could get some dramatic light :)

From what I saw this morning on Weather Channel they are now saying partially cloudy for Saturday :)

My wife said the lcoal weather said the same thing. Rain Friday with clearing Saturday.

Heck they have only changed it several times all week :)
