Thanks so much to Julianne, Bob and Terry for your kind comments! If I recall, you won a huge contest in Florida, Julianne, with your stunning "Grief" (orchids). You are really good at creating concepts with your photography, which is something I need a lot of work on. |

Catherine, you give me too much credit. Sometimes, rarely, I wake up with a good idea. And once in a great while I am able to bring that idea to fruition. I've watched you develop over the past year into a photographer/artist capable of consistently fine quality work. I'm so glad your efforts are now paying off in a meaningful way, and that you are gaining recognition in your community. |

Yay Team Suck! (Where's that damn mascot anyway?)
Great news about Brian on the mend, and Catherine's spectacular prize-winning photograph.
And I'm thinking the whole "themed" thing is not a bad idea for challenges. Can't have us all do the same thing each challenge, or we'd know each other's entries - or could we and just not vote on 'em? Nah, I like finding out afterwards that something I really liked was the work of a Team Sucker. Maybe just have ideas... blur, grain, OOF.. your standard DPC no-no's. And try to incorporate them more into what we enter in challenges... |

Lea, I just saw this. I am so, so sorry. What an awful thing to deal with. As Deb says, I can only hope things get better for you in the new year. |

Beloved Mascot's got some doozies....I used this one for my tagline for a while....I *still* chuckle when I rad it....I have it on my profile page as "A quote to live by to help keep perspective and sanity:"
"If something looks like it met the challenge and
a reasonable viewer believes that to be true, then
it does meet the challenge. Reality be damned."

Opening the door quietly and peeking inside, hello and the thousands of eyes turn to me at the door, HI! hywind, speaking in a quiet voice I say the still works, as does the we all together.
I then say in a loud voice THANK YOU all for your support, .......but if you think I am just a on the wall think again, my may not be as strong, but I'm here to kick butt, and just to show you there were no challengeing side effects I look as normal as always.

hywind so glad to see an update from you !
I talked to my mom this afternoon.
I was getting concerned - I'd tried calling yesterday and this morning and gotten no answer either time.
I talked to her for about 10 minutes. She's speaking a LOT better, though not great. Most of her sentences were complete and sensible, if a little muddled up (word order, etc).
She sounds better than she did just a few days ago. But tired, beyond the normal tired sound she's had for the last 3 years. And frustrated.
Talking to her reminds me of how my Grandfather spoke after his first set of strokes. Like the thoughts were there, but the words won't co-operate. Or how someone who has a significant concussion speaks - repeating, mumbling, etc.
I had hoped to go over to see her tomorrow, but she's not up for company and asked me not to come. I think if I lived close enough to stop by without the kids, it would be different, but we don't.
She said she is waiting for the specifics on appointment dates, but she is expecting to go for a fairly heavy 5-day treatment of radiation to her brain, and that her doctor (oncologist I hope) has told her that "this type" of brain mets responds well to the radiation treatment.
I hope he's right.

Well it seems Gordon will be in my neck of the woods the beginning of next month, and depending on the time he passes maybe within a couple hundred feet. If my schedule holds up, we should be working on the new exit about 2 miles into Utah on I-15.
Looks like this will be my last 2 day weekend, just yesterday my wife informed me she needs to get her foot rebuilt on the 21st. No rest for the wary.
Forget viruses, spy ware, Trojans, or any of that ilk, the most dangerous thing that can happen to your computer is a 15 year old boy..
May everybody’s weekend be exactly what they want it to beâ€Â¦.: ) |

That's how you know it's artistic and that it's yours and that, maybe, you've come some way towards avoiding work that looks as though it were designed by committee.

I'm happy to report that Mrs. Grinch was validated. Phew! If she had been DQed, I would have been punished for too many DQs. I'm still surprised that someone would challenge a shot that finished in the 24th percentile and after the voting had finished. |

If Bear_Music says its excellent, then you know it is. Great to have that stamp of approval, especially during voting. |
