The newest pictures in my portfolio are of my very good friends Henry and Di. They asked me to take pictures for their 10th Anniversary. It was snowing to beat the band. They pick these two shots and I did my best at post processing and gave them these and all the others that I took. They paid me for this which I didn't ask for, they said if I wouldn't take the money they would get someone else to do it. I so know that others could do better, but it made me feel proud that they thought enough of my work to ask me. On another note I'm having back surgery on Tuesday they will be removing part of my backbone, I'm hoping that I'll get to keep it and take pictures of it. I wish all of you a Happy Holiday season and a very good New Year. Doing this early incase I can't sit at the computer for awhile.

Rosemary, don't put yourself down. Those pictures of your friends are marvelous. I'm sure they really do love them. Good luck with your surgery on Tuesday.

Heh!! I got a kick out of this. :-) I have a shot I'm considering for Free Study that's yet another one of those "only a mother could love" kinda things. I love it. I'm also OK with it only scoring a 5.1, but will admit there's a good chance it'll go lower than that. I need to wait a few days and look at it again and make sure, but I'm thinking it may be the one for this month.

Well guys I did not enter heaven or hell. But I can tell you this, the beautiful snow scenes would be heaven for me. Instead we have torrential rain and ungodly wind ... hell.
I'm worried that the 60 foot tall trees in front of our house may join us inside.
Well, I'm off to finish the darned quilt for Christmas. Gotta ship it out tomorrow.

Please take a picture before you send it off - and let me know when you stick it in your portfolio!! I have fabric waiting for me at home that I ordered from Keepsake before I deployed. It's not gonna be anything fancy - very simple, actually - but I'm looking forward to getting home and getting it started.

I actually quite like the first picture. :) It is a memorable portrait, and one that I am sure will always bring a smile to their faces as they think about all the snow blowing around on their anniversary. It will probably be much more cherished than a regular shot.

Best of luck on your surgery, hopefully you will be moving around again very soon.

Yee haw!! "Bought it on eBay" - 4.75

That's more like it! (Oddly, I'm kinda delighted with that score.)

I got ya beat at 4.5 - which doesn't surprise me because some people are not gonna get it. I did get a comment already from a TSer tho!

I think you've lost your grip on the brown.

Congrats, Bobbie! It's a lovely photograph of an awesome vehicle. Good to see you back in the challenges, too.

By the way, just got a comment on my eBay shot "I don't get it". I guess I really didn't quite capture the intent of the challenge very well. Ah well. I tried!

You could ask hotpasta or iamwoman.

Hey folks. I just received an email from a man in Brazil who is asking for permission to use one or more of my wakeboard photos in a magazine in Brazil. I googled him and he is legit. Seems to be some kind of illustrator for various Brazilian magazines.

I emailed him back and asked:
Can you please
tell me the name of the magazine, a link to the
website, the size of the run, and the size the picture
would appear in the magazine? What kind of usage
rights are you looking for? Then I can give you a
quote for pricing.

Did I miss anything? I can have the photos model released if needed, although a couple of them would not require it as the boarder is just a sillohoutte and not identifiable.

Any advice? I intend to make sure the funds are paypal transfered to me before emailing the large files for publication, and only then after I receive a faxed or emailed (but signed) contract outlining their intended usage and rights requirements.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ernie

I know nothing about selling anything but it sounds like you asked the right questions - and WAY COOL!! Here's hoping this works out for you!

Ernie, way to go! And yeah looks like you covered all the bases!

I'm still around 4.8 for Heaven, and just submitted my first ever shot taken with the D40 for BITE...I did kinda cheat though and shot auto as I'm just learning how to use it now.

Deb, i bet you're looking forward to doing something nice and relaxing like quilting once you get back from your current warm place!

I am looking forward to quilting. And my cats. And civilization. And wearing something other than combat boots. :-) But the weather this time of year is lovely! It's nice during the day, cool at night. Can't complain about it at all. I'm hoping to avoid rainy season...

Susan, it is nice to see that you got yourself dug out as well. :) I hope the horsey's were in a nice, secure barn.
