Did you miss the bit were we pointed to the various paid up members who have been caught pinching images ?

Well shit then Gordon, I guess we should just make it so nobody can see the images and well only have a description category where people can write shit like:

I took this image (blocked because you might steal it) and its of a tree. Its really good, in fact its great, but again, a few members stole images and youll do the same so you cant see it, so I guess you should just score it a 10, cause well its really goooood.

and, you can see enough of the image to understand whatever point it had, as well...

How much for this one?

You are missing the point.

No im not missing the point at all.

You can only go so far to protect anything before you start getting ridiculous.

Yes there have been a few paid members that have taken images that weren't theres, I agree. Im sure there has been a greater number of registered users who have done the same. And I can guarantee that there is a number of "passer bys" that have taken more then any of those groups. So wouldnt it make sense to limit the viewing capabilities of "high risk" people (the non registered/registered)? Of course there is going to be some risk involved that paid members will "steal" images, but I would say the likelihood of that is a lot less then registered users and nonregistered users doing it.

This website ive noticed has a very quick tendency to escalate everything to the extreme very quickly.

I believe that thieves / pirates are for the most part not going to put much effort into it - especially for 640 x 480 images â€Â¦

I believe these steps would reduce piracy without pissing off too many people:

- Force registration for non watermarked images, possibly replaced with a less intrusive watermark or border
- Prevent drag/drop on all images
- prevent contextual menus on all images
- Add a copyright warning that pops up when attempting to drag/drop / save an image

I somehow got really passionate about this issue - I think it has to do with people making up stories about how they shot the image themselves.

Thanks- that's my final soap-box stance for today ;)

Isnt that easily bypassed by shift+click?

Im talking about on any subject from pricing to copyright to a kid getting yelled at by his dad.

preventing right click doesn't work AT ALL. It just succeeds in making the site a pain in the ass to use. Forget about it.

How doesn't it work at all ? Click the 'disable JavaScript' button on your browser.

How is it a pain in the ass ? Ever use any of the context menu options for anything ? Well, now you can't. That's a PITA.

We should all think about doing what you have done with the images on your website.
I mean this is probably one of the best theft-prevention methods I've seen:

***UNDER CONSTRUCTION***

CHECK BACK SOON FOR UPDATES

haha - just razzin ya' - felt obligated to harass the new kid on the block.

Actually - wanna see a cool option? Go to any of the images on this site:

ROBBY REDCHEEKS.COM

And try to right click save an image, or drag and drop an image.

I realize this might be off topic (at the moment?) but it looks like Deviant Art has removed the offender.

These are pretty good

3. Cover images with a transparent GIF

Set important images as the background of an HTML container (td, div, etc), then fill the foreground with a transparent GIF of identical or greater size. (Without the transparent GIF, the context menu may offer the option to “Save Background Image Asâ€Â¦Ã¢€)

Wow, how did you go about doing that!?

Unless you went into the code for the page, found the image location, and then did it.

And if you did all that, then you are a nerd and have earned that image.

Removed the image, hence the edit.
