| I picked up my D80 and it sounded like there was a grain of sand inside. I would shake it a little close to my ear and here it. I took the lens off, made sure it wasn't that. Cleaned the sensor with a blower etc. I put the D80 to my ear and I still here it. It sounds more like a spring is loose and when shaken a bit it goes back and forth until it stops. Hard to explain. Is this normal? Something inside that's suppose to be there...or should I look at bringing it to the shop? |

| Yes it is normal it is a sensor switch that lets the camera know when it is in portrait position. Or something like that. I read it before but I can't fully remember but my D70 and D80 does that. |

I second this. I've read about it before. I think you're fine.

i think most slr camera will have a little rattle in them lots of moving parts inside something has to move around when you shake the camera. I wouldnt worry about it unless you hear some crunching sounds next time you try to focus or change lenses.
Now I have to shake my camera a little once and see if there is any noise.
