Those are the very best gifts! If I have to guess in my house, chances are those scribbles involve the clone army attacking the Jedi on some planet I have never heard of. |

With just a teeny-weeny bit of coaching, my wonderful spouse has two boxes waiting for me for tomorrow (and next week, my B-day):
this little number that I've been wanting, and this one too.. Both items I've been wanting but hesitant to spring for myself.
Woo-hoo! |

I was taken out for sushi, so, I guess what I am getting then would be less than the government daily allowance for mercury.
I had fun.

After having kids I have a new found respect for the day. It is not easy being a dad, and I wish mothers and fathers day was a whole week. As for the kids, everyday is there holiday already. |

So? Did your kids ask to be born? Sorry, but Hallmark is a scam! ;-) Oh and don't get me wrong, I appreciate fathers and mothers, but their birthday is enough "praise."

...from a web search:
"FATHERS' DAY HISTORY"
"Sonora Dodd, of Washington, first had the idea of a "father's day." She thought of the idea for Father's Day while listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909.
Sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. Smart, who was a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state.
After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.
President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972."
Seems a bit more deep than just a Hallmark scam, IMHO. I sure wish my kids had their father with them today so they could celebrate and praise what a wonderful dad he has always been to them.

My kids' dad is getting one of those corny concrete stepping stones. Difference? This one is shaped like the Chevy bowtie. That sucker is heavy (about 3 feet wide) and is in my trunk to give to him tomorrow.
I wish all of the Daddy's and Grandpa's on this site a happy father's day. |

well for the past 2 years I haven't even gotten a "Happy Father's Day" from the kids. I expect much of the same this year. Ah well, it is what it is. |
