Im new to dpchallenge and it seems like such a wonderful place already. I did some searching in the forum to see if this was posted in the past and it was difficult since the word signature is a pretty common word, so if this is posted elsewhere, pelase let me know.
Anyways, I've sold a few prints and Im going to be giving some out as christmas gifts and a few friends have told me I should put my signature on the photo. I feel that since Im not really a professional, I may come off as arrogant for doing so. So that's my first problem, should I put my signature in the lower right corner?
My second problem is, I have a horrid signature. Basically a mess of lines that looks nothing like a signature. Does anyone else have this problem? I really don't wanna make my signature take away from the photo. Could I possibly find a font and just add it in so when I get prints made, it's already on there?

I really have no idea what to do. I appreciate any advice or suggestions!

I think this thread might have some of the info that you are looking for.

I like signatures on mats, but in many cases, prefer to have the actual photo signed. I have had this discussion with another photographer at dpc who was kind enough to sign their photo for me. I consider photos hanging on my wall to be "art", and I like to collect original art, and a signature is a MUST!

Best just to sign them rather than print the signature in. My normal signature used for checks, contracts, etc is horrid as well. A doctor would be ashamed of it. I practiced one for use on birthday cards and photos and the like. You might want to work out a special way of signing your name.

also they have those stampers you can get made from your actual signature. like the stampers people use for return addresses on envelopes.

Greetings and welcome to DPChallenge :) A signature on a print is a good thing. However, if you want to sign them, you should hand sign them rather than putting it on with photoshop. The lower corners are good places for signatures. If you are matting the print, you may want to consider putting the title on the mat just under the lower left corner of the print and put your signature on the lower right side just under the image. Use a pencil if you do this. If you want to sign the print itself, you should consider using a an extra fine point opaque paint marker in an appropriate color. I use the DecoColor Opaque Paint Markers that I can buy at AC Moore or Michaels for less than $3 each. They work nicely.

A friend of mine told me I should always try to use Acid Free markers, as these will help preserve the prints many years down the road.

What fonts sizes are being used for signatures on your DPCprints?
