Just finished voting ... and giving some "very direct feedback" via comments. Too many "snaps," too many "camera phone pics," too many "shoehorn" entries. Sorry.

Come on folks, study and emulate the best of this challenge. They are fantastic!!!!!

Well, I would tend to agree.

I browsed through the images and have decided to stop voting on them. I was a little let down that with a challenge titled "Science" that it is still chock full of flower and bug pictures with such creative titles as Horticulture, or the Latin name for the bug or plant photographed (said titles are the only things that link the photos to the challenge - to my way of thinking).

Can we get a "my pretty garden" challenge so we can get all of the bug and flower pictures out of the way all at once?

I'll offer a conditional apology to the bug and flower photographers...some of them are presented in a very unique way that makes them stand out and are in no way cliche or repetitive.

Oh, I'm sorry...I thought I was in the rant forum. :D

My score's slipped a couple tenths today; if I could get a few 9's and 10's that'd be great.

Thanks in advance, you're all swell.

I agree with you, but I think we already had this discussion. ;-)

Unlike my Selective Desaturation II entry (ahem), this is probably a reasonable rating for my Science entry.

Hi, just asking for info. I've been keeping up w/all the threads on Science/Religion/Atheists & so on. It's been interesting to read. But you seem disappointed in the entries for Science. Are you allowed to say what you expected to see? I would really like to know, from you or from anyone who's disappointed in the entries--what were you expecting?

I don't know what I was expecting to see...I do know that I wasn't expecting to see what I see in every other challenge. It just seems that people who have a particular niche of what they prefer to shoot manage to put that exact same thing into nearly every challenge and "shoehorn" it into the challenge by coming up with a title that fits the challenge. It isn't anything to really get wrapped around the axle over, just a little disappointing, that is all.

I did have an idea for a shot, but I figured that it would have been done by someone else...kinda wish I would have done it now. I figured there would be at least one photo of a woman holding a pregnancy test in her hand with a look of shock and horror on her face, but I didn't see it in there.

Not that great but I had to post it because it's the first time ever my score has gone into the 6 range.

You have rated 138 of 220 images (63%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 96 of 220 images (44%) in this challenge.

I haven't done much on this site lately as I've been busy with end of the school year stuff (I teach HS science), but I'm having a lot of fun looking at the entries in this challenge. I plan on getting through them all and commenting on as many as possible. Hope my comments are viewed as constructive criticism.

Interestingly, the score was first it around 5.2, then dropped quickly down to ~5.0 as the number of votes went up to maybe 100. Now it has raised to almost 5.4.

Is this a normal pattern (this is only my second entry, so I do not have much to compare with)? And does it happen due to different types of voters voting at different times (the most critical within the first 48hrs or so), or do you think that the voters update their scores during the voting period?

In that case, does this mean that the score will keep rising? And does it mean that this is the kind of pic that gets more intersting the more you look at it?
