Is this possible once a challenge has started?
If yes, how? |

You have to ask for a self-DQ through the contact page. It's discouraged though since it counts towards the number of DQs you have.

It's called "self DQ". Make sure you understand the rules if you do it. |

Come on - stick it out like the rest of us. What's a little 3 or 4 in the greater picture. |

What reason would someone self DQ other that the obvious reason of breaking challenge rules? |

Pride :-)
In my case, I've self-DQ'd so that the model wouldn't think less of herself.

I don't know what kolasi's reasons are, but a reason would be if your photo starts to bomb when the voting starts. You see you had a lapse in judgment and don't want to deal with the humiliation of a bad score. For example. |

Is that worth not being able to submit because of your DQ. What happens then if the best challenge topic comes up and your barred from submitting? Is it worth the risk. I dont submit unless I have a photo that I would be happy with as I dont want to throw just anything together. For me thats not what photography is about. Mind you there are a couple that in hindsight I should have either done differently or not submitted too. I guess we all have those. |

Basically it is because its bombing. I dont think Ill withdraw it after all though. I was kind of hasty in submitting it, but I think maybe its better to just keep it.
Someday I'll look back at it and see how far i have progressed ;) |

An entry that breaks the rules is not eligible for self-DQ. One good reason for using that escape hatch is when you accidentally submit an entry to the wrong challenge. Not that I would know... |

right, When you clearly tell everyone how you broke the rules about resizing more than once what ever rule, then it will show as a pink bar:) |

If I self-DQed for all the challenges I have that bomb, I would be self-DQing every other entry. I'd rather ride it out and cuss and swear at all the voters that don't appreciate my masterpieces! |
