Dang, you're a violent bunch!! :-)

The latest on Deb's Summer (and beyond) Vacation - the home office approved the six month version of said vacation, but hasn't quite figured how to pay for it yet. The Home Office (note the caps) has said this will do for now, but if they don't come up with the goods, the Home Office reserves the right to pull me back into the 365 day scenario. But things are looking good for the shorter version. Kitty sitting kinda lined up, though the cats will be well traveled as well, getting to see a lot of Germany as they wander from friend to friend. My coworkers have been turning out their closets to find the stuff I'll need, which is really nice. And rumor has it for $75 a month, you can get internet in your "room", if you get a "room". The adventure continues!

We've foolishly purchased a WII conole. Great fun, but gets in the way of taking photos. :o

While I still can't get one in Chicago, I did find 4 (!!) in a Walmart in the middle of Iowa. Unfortunately work and life stuff keep me from both photography and Wii gaming.

Stupid life interfering with the good stuff....

Speaking of good stuff, the Out of Focusers DPL team is currently sitting nicely atop their division. I mention this because they're all Team Suckers! Congrats, guys!

I have a shot in Negative Space that I like, but doubt voters will like it. I also have a shot in Where's Waldo, but it may get pulled. Haven't decided yet.

We all have our fingers and toes crossed for tonight. It has been a great, hardworking team. Or they work while I sleep.

The slideshow on there is really pretty awesome, I think. So make sure you take lots of photos for it! :-D

Tell me about it. My wife wanted a drip system thingy set up for the flower pots outside, which took up all of my last minute macro time. I did get a shot in for Backsides, and it's not a self portrait, so it shouldn't scare the voters.

Congrats of Team OOF!

I'm in for negative space. The only problem is that I'm cursed with the knowledge of what negative space actually means, so my score will probably get killed.

For negative space to function in an image, it must have some sort of shape to it

The Wikipedia article says may have some sort of shape to it, so I would think the requirement is something along the lines of the 'spaces between the objects' contributing as a pictorial element (e.g. through colour, texture etc.). Having said that, it does look as though most entries go no further than (to attempt) an interesting background.

People can't read :,-(

Negative space to create the wow of the photo.

Doesn't mean it HAS to be a whole lot of it.

lol I am SURE that I am reading this wrong, but they have funding for a year but not 6 months? hmmmm

Well I am glad you found a way to work things out for your furbabies. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that they really have a budget crisis and find they have to send you to Hawaii instead!

I'm finally back online in my own home!! YAY! I'm still having some small technical issues, but at least it's just a minor thing having to do with email and user name rights. Those four weeks felt like forever! I've missed you guys!

Woooo Kelli it's good to have you back.

Hey!

The internet in my flat mysteriously broke, so all 5 of us had a frustrating evening of Internet withdrawal symptoms. Ok, and I finally make it to uni and log in to find this:

Either it's an awful shot, or it's being dnmc'd left, right and centre, or both. But less than 4?! Come on... Apparently I'll be competing with whiterook for the Brown...

Yow! This is why I turned scores off; better for me to be shocked at the end of the week than every day. That said, it's only 18 votes, and the "strict interpreters of DNMC" tend to vote early.
