Any ideas why I have lost my spot in that team 5.0 I accepted my invitation.
05/14/2007 10:26:00 AM · #52
not sure if it has been mentioned or how hard it will be but it would be nice to be able to have more than one thread for the team. as it is now the thread will get huge and hard to find specific info.

thanks for all the hard work admin.

i'm sorry that this happened. the SC have no way of checking the history here, but it's possible that langdon does. please submit an administrative inquiry ticket from the contact form to see if he can help you.

Slow down! You have to give people time to answer. I know you are upset, but take a breath. See my suggestion on the previous page. And good luck. :-)

right now there will only be one thread per team. as this is the first "official" DPL, this is all the functionality that can be incorporated.

in the future it might be possible to have a private team forum in which multiple threads can be created. but right now one thread will have to suffice.

I think teams will play against other teams in the same division. What I didn't understand is why only northern and western conference are shown in round 1 games...

Well if you look at the standings teams are under northen southern western and eastern. Teams that are under southern are listed under nothern and northenr is under nothern in the matchup.

this is a typo and has been reported. the page will be updated soon, but the matchups are correct.

I guess as captain I have to grab my balls and step up to this one. I hated to be an mean.

I tried to get ahold of you and brianm to confirm everything, or well i sent a PM im not sure if you guys got it. I had a couple more people interested so i dropped the two people i enevr heard anything from.

You were fine but BrianM had not participated in an 07 challenge so he was dropped first. Im not sure who i dropped you for but i cant say that i wanted to lose you.

It was pretty early probly 2 days or so in you would have had plenty of time to enter another team but i guess sicne you thought u were in one there was no need to check.

I apologize if this was unfair to you. My only advice at this point is that some teams dont have their max users and you can still get onto one.

yah, curious about this too...

I believe it was a glitch â€Â¦ the first challenge is Selective Desat.

A couple suggestions about the Team Discussion thread. Could it be possible to have it appear in our own recently posted to threads so we can see if our teammates have responded to it or not. or have the thread listed under the pulldown for the league so it is easier to check. I had some other suggestions but for now they escape me.

Okay, I've added a test image to my workshop. How do I link to it so others can see it? Sorry, but I tried a couple of things and couldn't figure it out.

Elvis to the rescue (again)!

Thanks, that worked. Here is the full procedure for dummies like me:

Go to My Home.
Go to My Workshop.
Upload the photo.
After the photo is uploaded, you'll see its thumbnail in "Images in Workshop".
Look at the URL and make note of the Image ID. Also, make sure the image is marked visible (default, I think).
Go to your private league discussion thread and start or edit your post.
Click on the next-to-last button above the post box and type in the Image ID number.

All the "regular" member and open challenges, starting with Selective Desaturation II, count toward DPL. Extra challenges and Free Studies are not included.

If you "watch" the thread, then go to your "watched threads" you can get the last post arrow!

Excellent idea - thanks for this!!

Just to make this clearer than clear (because I had to ask another SC member myself) the challenges that are announced this week whose submission deadlines will be May 20 (member) and May 22 (exclusive open) are the first challenges to count toward team competition. It was unclear to me whether I should be trying to enter one of the two exclusive open challenges which close for submission tomorrow... Do I have it right, now?

yup. the League Overview page clearly lists which challenges are DPL-eligible.

How were the teams divided into divisions? My point is...our team is quite strong in terms of scoring and yet we are in the division of a team with crazy amounts of high scores/ribbons? Can this be right? Especially in light of the fact I thought it was gonna be seeded or organized in terms of scoring averages.

It would seem to me, like most tournaments, that high teams statistically, if all plays out according to averages, would meet later in playoffs if they hold course and win their division. But if I am understanding right, it will be either Se7endipity or Ribbon Hogs to come out of Division A Northern Conference. And that seems kinda stupid. I was browsing other divisions and entire divisions (not meaning this to be rude) don't have as many ribbons as I do as captain alone. Any ideas?

So how do the private threads work? How can we post to it without having the pix show up in our portfolios? Not really private is it?

absolutely private. just upload to your workshop folder and link the image into the team's private thread ;-)

The teams were seeded based on the average of the team member averages over the last 30 days' entries and/or last 10 challenges (can't remember which Langdon finally decided to use). The team with the highest average was seeded #1 in the top division of Northern Conf, the 2nd highest was #1 in Southern Conf, then West, then East (or vice versa), with the 5th highest average team placed #2 in the top division in Northern Conf... This effectively means that the top 24 teams will play only teams from the top 24, same for the middle and bottom 24s (ie divisions).

Not that you're worried (nor are the Ribbon Hogs, I'm sure) but there ARE four other teams in your division..... :-)
