So in my frustration in trying to come up with an Expert Editing entry in the Freestudy this last month I came up with this.
I was almost taking it seriously for awhile. I just had the back set of geese, but it needed more.
So picture yourself standing there (in the clouds) taking a picture of a goose and her young when BAMMO! The daddy pops up in the frame. Ahhhhhhh!! Your aperture and focus was set to get the back two geese. Of course the foreground goose is going to be out of focus!
All the comments said that they wanted the foreground goose to be in better focus. The thing that is wrong with the image to me is that the foreground baby goose actually is too focused in comparison with the protective "daddy goose" that would be popping up.
I just thought I'd share. I honestly was cracking up for an hour. Maybe it was moving the goose head around in Photoshop that did it. I don't know, but it cracks me up to no end. |

Aflac!!!!!!!!
LOL my wife has geese at her work and the maintenance guys try and get rid of them with guns that shoot blanks, fake Owls, fake Cyotes and chasing them off before they nest. None of it works and they come back year after year. They tap on the mirrored widows on the ground level to protect their mate. Its great fun to watch.
I do get what you are sayig on this one LOL. |

I took these at a cemetary near my work. It seems to be the local "pitstop." Hundreds of geese are there at its peek if not thousands. All the families gather around this one pond. It's quite a sight. They have one of those fake coyotes there too. They just don't go near it, heh. |

I don't care much about my score. Infact this one got me 562 out of 572! I was hoping more people would laugh though which is why I made this thread. People must laugh! People must share my joy! |

Here's a funny duck story...there is a local hospital that has a courtyard in the center of the hospital...the only way to reach it is going from inside the hospital...or if your a duck, flying in from above. Well, every year there is a mother duck that comes back and nests in the courtyard. What could be more protected. The only problem is...when the babies are ready to leave the nest, they can't fly. So, the staff at the hospital cordon off a path from the courtyard, right out the front door of the hospital. Every year it's a huge deal when the ducks are ready to leave. Everyone lines up to watch as momma duck and her babies waddle their way through the hospital...out the front door to the lake! This has been going on for several years!
Puts a smile on my face!

Imagine this same story except the location is a hotel in Zambia and the ducks become Elephants who were cut off from their favorite Mango tree because a wall was built across their path to it. The elephants decided to use the lobby instead. Talk about being spooked the first time taht happens to you, eh?
Saw that one of the major news magazines in 2005, I think.

I got a comment saying my fish should have been in focus too, but I was trying to create a Depth of Field. I actually blurred the fish on purpose. Technically, I think they should be even blurrier.

There's an ant migration somewhere that goes through people's homes. I want to say Africa or Australia. The people actually welcome the ants, because they leave their homes spotless, heh.

Not to be confused with the crab migration on Christmas Island where one must dump the crabs from ones shoes before putting them on. Ew.

Every year when the rains start, South Park Drive in Tilden Regional Park is closed to protect migrating newts. |

It's part of a resident flock on Esquimalt Lagoon bird sanctuary. They're semi-tame and we feed them barley, then just sit quietly on the ground. After a bit they ignore us and go about doing their goosey thing all around us.
The swans do the same, and it was awesome at mating time last year, as they did their rituals with us right in the middle of them :D |

Better than mating with you. I have a funny story about my dad and his Harris Hawk... I don't know if I should share...
Okay I will! So my dad has this Harris Hawk. They've grown quite fond of eachother, and my dad will sometimes rub his nose against the beak of his bird. Curiously his bird has started to jump down to the ground after they do this. The other night my dad got down there with him and his hawk handed him a twig. He wants to nest with him!
Sure that's cute and all, but this is where it gets weird. Apparently he knows a guy who invented a plastic coated "hat" for the next stage of this "nesting." Apparently the birds will actually have sex with your head and when they do this the hat collects the sperm. You can then take that and fertilize eggs. From what I'm told this hat has helped the Peregrin falcon population steadily increase in the recent years.
My dad is torn at this point. He hasn't taken their relationship to the next "level" and is unsure if he should. If he doesn't his hawk might feel rejected. If he does that's just weird!
So there's my story. How did this thread come to this... |

Well...as long as your dad isn't expecting a call the next day!
