Heh... sorry, Crystal! I've been there, too. Somebody swiped THIS image and "reverse engineered" it to look like it was Photoshopped together (mine was Basic Editing). It won first place, but I had it yanked immediately.

Speaking of stolen images:

Last week a nice gentleman introduced himself to me as the president of our town's camera club. He said he liked my photos, so much so that he had taken one off my pBase site, framed it, and presented it to the direcotr of the town library as a retirement present. um are we fighting a losing battle here?

Oh. My. God. Did you bonk him on the head? Or just hand him a bill?

Simply unbelievable. It's even for a contest. Sick bastards I tell ya! How can you even feel good about yourself if you are to win with someone else's work?

Get a rope I say!

So how DOES one register a disk of images with the Copyright office? Can I do a DVD of thumbnails? (like 10,000 of them) for the $35 or is it $45?

Copyright Thread with good info

Worth1000 is FULL of copyright violations that's why I never signed up for the site. People seem to think as long as they are "just having fun" they can take any photo and do whatever they want with it. I'd be willing to bet over half the people on that site don't even own a camera.

@JadedYouth - that's a standard DMCA claim form.

I've only had one other image stolen that I know about and all I had to do was email the site and they took it off. I'm not really annoyed by the process. Just that I have to hand write and mail it to them making it take much longer before the actual removal. ya know?

oh. I persoanlly would have to mail it since I dont know how to do the electronic signiture thing i mean..just to clear that up.

My god- that site really is packed full! I mean- look at the 'celebrity" challenges- every one of those photographs are originally from high profile professional guys...

A losing battle indeed.

I can only imagine the look on his face when he said that... ieuw. They might think it's flattering that they used your work, but it's just a rip off.

I wonder how the quality of the framed photo was.. and the worst part is, that your name is "on" it..

Hope you do something about it.. goodluck

@ Jaded: that is BAD.. good luck emailing them and finally get that photo off of the site!

Oooooo! Free advertising! Make the best of it by one upping the "president" by offering a trade to the director. Give him a matted and framed copy of the image in exchange for the lesser quality image.

You might even return the stolen image to the president with COPYWRITTEN hand written over the image. Along with a disapproving look. :)

I wish people would just take their own photographs rather than stealing other photographs that people worked hard on. I mean, how hard is it to pick up a camera and hit the shutter button?

(I forgot to put 'hard' in there.)
