I just got a Canon 15mm fisheye lens and I cannot begin to explain how cool this thing is. I had always wanted to get one, but never wanted to drop the cash to buy it. If I would have known how much this lens would make me laugh I would have bought it years ago. If you are on the fence about buying this lens just take the plunge. It is well worth the money... and it is tack sharp if you are trying to take "serious" pictures.

These may only be funny to me, but...

And fisheyes aren't only for fun... they can provide a wonderful, fresh perspective on street scenes, landscapes/skies, you name it. The Canon 15/2.8 is a great little lens indeed; incredibly sharp, high contrast, well-built. A really good value, IMO. I'd never part with mine. My only dig on it is the lens cap, which refuses to stay put.

Fun is a good thing! :-D

Landscapes and shots down city-streets are cool to do as well. Shots up skyscrapers. I love my 10-20.

Not only fun, but images can be turned into "normal", ultrawide ones:

I 'll let Ken explain...

15 mm fisheye is my next lens purchase if I can ever find the time to start shooting again :(

I LOVE my Fisheye! You can shoot without distortion if you level the horizon. Sometimes the distortion is funky, sometimes its just cool! These are all shot with that lens:

I broke out the Fisheye this weekend. I rarely use it but found a few cool ideas that made me bring it out of retirement. I think it might work well for food closeups used for stock...?

Love this photograph. But given that the overall quality of this image is amazingly good and given the improbability that you would actually be in a position to take a natural picture of this jet conveniently located in flight with the word 'florida' on its tail, I'd guess this is an image adjusted to create the effect. Good job! Well done!

What a coincidence, I just had my first bottle of "FishEye" Merlot, wine last Saturday. The lens is next.

Thanks, Steve. It was a display with a giant steel column sticking in the tail to hold it up. I layed down so I could shoot with nothing but sky behind it, then just cloned a few clouds over the steel rod fixed levels. :)

A fisheye lens is next on my list, too! I like the effect it makes & the name always makes "feel" like having a little FUN with it! :}

Wide is good.
My Question is: IS IT WORTH having the 10-20mm sigma and a 15mm diag. fisheye?
Weigh in if you like.

I love my fisheye! I used to think it was a gimicky thing what would only get spot use, but I end up shooting with it all the time!

**edit: Tokina and Pentax co-developed their 10-17 fisheye, so I'm assuming they're fairly similar. I highly recommend it.

while the 15mm is nice on a FF body. on the 20D its not nearly as "fishy" and wide. On a crop body i would go for like 10.5mm

This thread got me motivated this morning. I picked one of these up this afternoon. Now I want to go to Chicago for the weekend.

Does this baby make me look fat... or is that the 10.5mm?

LOL I don't know for sure if you can blame that 100% on the lens. hehe
