Since giving me a personal best in "Pet Portrait 2", Alice is nearly impossible to work with. What do I do? Cave in to all of her demands? She seems to like her eggs lightly scrambled with wheat toast for breakfast.Nothing seems to be working.I need help.....

Well my first thought purely from the title is smack the bitch. (Was gonna edit to model... but since its a dog will leave at bitch!)
BUT ITS A DOG.....
yeah i have major issues with posing dogs. Usually wanst to be too far away or too close.

Try teaching her to do things with treats and no camera for a while... she will learn if she acts right, she will get a reward... always teach her the verbal commands with hand signals too... it helps you not have to talk when you are trying to concentrate... then, when you whip out the camera, have treats handy... dogs will work for food :) hehe
ETA: and try to train in the environment in which you will be shooting... that way there is no confusion.

I understand your concerns, Biscuit won't even consider looking into a camera without the "Sirlion" clause in his contract.

when I shoot bugs I refrigerate them.
Maybe that works with dogs too?
Tried it with the cats, had to give up the shoot for a trip to the first aid kit.

For the dogs - make a crazy noise. No, seriously. Something goofy like "woo woo woo woo" or "La la la la la la" - anything that makes them stop in their tracks and look at you like you're a freak. THAT is the moment you shoot. They will fall for it again and again.

My model is too lazy to be difficult... easy to hit a target that never moves!

Tried Cindi's clever "sound to attract the dog" trick last weekend.
The result will be coverd in my upcoming, "How to Get Dog Slobber Off Your Lenses" tutorial. |
