Day 5

I can't wait to process this one!

Edited:

I couldn't wait... Tonemapped to bring out the rocks and adjusted hue/sat to bring out more crazy blue and a little more yellow from the sun on the rocks (maybe a bit much, but this IS DPC!).

Day 4

So, the internet at my house isn't working, so I'm in my mom's first grade class room using the SUPER slow internet...gr...

I officially have enough photos to be caught up, but, I didn't bring all the photos with me...so I guess it looks I'll be behind in postings :)

Also, I pulled a boo boo...I forgot my battery charger in Idaho...and no place in town has the batteries or battery charger for my camera...gr...I barely had enough juice to upload my photos to my computer! So now I might be stuck without shooting capabilities until Sunday when I get home...I'm not happy.

Day 5 is too hard to choose, so you get 4 versions. Sadly, I didn't check my ISO and shot at 800 instead of 200. (I could just spit.) Still, I think they are worth looking at, and in editing I can run them through Noise Ninja if necessary. If everyone comments on the first one it'll be easier.

A little piece of natural Florida. Right next to a 6 lane hiway.
Hand held at 1/15 sec with 15mm lens. No edit or crop.
A bonus shot.
This one is edited. No need to comment on it. It's just a freebee to share. It was on the way home tonight, and couldn't resist stopping to get the end of the day shot.

Day 5 - Minimal and Advanced

I might go back and redo the edited version. I have been studying xianart's images and editing descriptions and through that discovered some tools and techniques that I haven't tried before. Beautiful work she does.

Day 6: Awful... but hey... I'm gonna try to pull an advertising shot from it.

Day 6:

Another landscape photo for my minimal editing study. Wanted to get a photo with tough lighting so that I could play around with tonemapping to fix the foreground border of trees.

Day 5 I love these purple flowers, and there seem to be more every time I go to the park. There were a LOT more flowers today--hope we don't get any more freezes!

I realize these shots aren't exactly "DPC Friendly," but that's why I'm entering them here and not in a challenge! What I mean is, the shots have a lot more meaning to me because I know the history of Butte. I know the character of the people who live here...so I "get" the shots, where as most people might think, "what's with that garbage piled up around it?" or "what's that metal thingy?" I've already entered some "pretty shots" of the mine, and here's a few "ugly" ones!

Day 6

I didn't get a chance to shoot today - this is from Sunday, but I did a lot of my shooting on Sunday trying to keep this project in mind. If I don't get to shoot tomorrow, I'll at least try to shoot on Friday so I can finish out the minimal part with a "real time" shot.

And why would you post this in a min edit side challenge?

because i've had a lot of comments saying that people want to learn how to do the stuff i do in my editing. so, i thought this would be helpful. as most of the comments have come from people in this challenge, going from my unedited shots to my edited, i thought i'd include it here.

learning how to get it right in the camera is vital. that's what this project is about. but it's also good to learn new editing techniques too! ;-D
