All that is known for sure is that Jason's wife, Jenn, expressed great surprise there was anything that could possibly hold that hat up. |

Well then Mariana is home safely then... tell her hi.
A few posts earlier are some of my people shots if you haven't seen them yet. I like the one of Mariana at the edge and the one of you helping Timmy the best. |

I̢۪m finally home from the OR DPC GTG and my side trip to Mt. St. Helens and have made a quick go through of my Columbia Gorge photos in order to post a few. Hope to get the Mt. St. Helens shots up next as it should be a GTG in itself. (Some are now up. See here: Mt. St. Helens Thread)
Thanks to sheryll for setting this up and giving me a chance to meet some very famous and some not so famous DPCers. It was nice to be able to put a face and personality to some of the names I have seen around here for awhile. Can't wait to do it again.
Here are some of the early risers of the sunrise crew at the Portland Women̢۪s Forum and Vista House:
and of course some falls shots:
And finally one shot of a few of the hold overs for sunset:
edit: I may have gotten some of the falls names wrong so feel free to correct me.

I'm also finally home! It was a very rainy drive back from Seattle to BC. I'm just now starting to transfer files to my computer. This is the first picture I edited:
I think I really like waterfalls and running streams now :) |

Lovely to meet you Ursula and to shoot lower and upper Horsetail Falls in the Columbia Gorge with you and the other folks from DPC! Beautiful closeup of the soul of a waterfall. I look forward to more posts from our time together.

Positives:
Good forest image that captures the look and feel of the Columbia River Gorge.
Technicals:
Nearly good use of the Rule of Thirds for positioning the waterfall. Facial expressions and slouching postures are... wellll... you can see that for yourself.
The ten forground objects act as a major distraction in an otherwise fine composition.
The Challenge:
Your effort is heroic with the models you had to work with but unfortunately this is DNMC all the way. Sorry. :(
Suggestions:
Crop the near foreground in front of the feet and just to the left of JB to off-center the group slightly and better highlight both the waterfall and fine vegetation. It will better balance background lighting to.
A couple of things you might try...
1-Use the blur tool at a high setting on the faces. This will remove personally identifiable information allowing you to sell prints without obtaining releases. It will also add considerable viewer interest to the composition.
2-Probably a better idea is to clone out the distracting foreground objects all together. That would make for a nice little waterfall landscape.

Actually, I wasn't cleaning the sensor, just blowing dust off the mirror. I'm terrified of cleaning the sensor, and only do it as a very last resort. |
