I have enjoyed this side tournament as well. I love to see the places you all live in, and the photos have been pretty much over the top in this thread. I also like some of the little bits of history and unique details of some of your shots. Gives me a feel for those local tidbits we all search for but rarely find when away from our own corner of the world.
I will be placing this thread on my watch list, so I can refer back to it frequently and catch all the shots I didn't have time to view, as well as make further comments. HOpe you leave your shots up in your portfolios for awhile.

Lap-top came back today. Disc was formated and finally it is running smoothly. No Photoshop or any other editing program it will take some days to get everything as I like.

I will be commenting but can't post any pictures, this is when RAW format backfires on you. :(

For the people a bit behind, pleeeaaase! take your time ;)

It would be great if everyone could check back in on this thread every month or so and post an update if there is any big news or if they relocate, just to keep in touch.
I will be sleeping a lot more this month, as I will not be up until 2 AM every night commenting on everyones pics.
I think I need a nap.

Day 30 - Cape Spear

I've really enjoyed this 30-day challenge, I would love to do it again in August or September, that's when we get our best weather and I could show you a lot more. An extra photo:

Day 30 - Earlham Hall, Norwich, England

This is Earlham Hall, the building I work in. It is leased from the City Council by the University I work for, and each year the entering students hear rumors that they'll be the last class to graduate having used this building, because the University is building us a new building on the main campus (this building is across a field from the University's main campus and is the only "remote" teaching building). It's a lie. Each year we stay. The inside is not in great shape, as you might imagine for a building of this age, having been adjusted over time to a whole host of uses, from family living, to a birthing hospital, and now to a school, but there remains a lot of character to it (along with a ghost, which I've heard about, but never seen -- probably because I don't believe in ghosts).

So this is now "officially" done, but I have a lot of comments to catch up, and am really enjoying the final shots. Thanks again for letting me join in, and for sharing your knowledge and advice.

Best,

Rob

Got my new car today! Well, it's new to me. Less miles than the dead one, but the rims are not as cool and it doesn't have that insane soundsystem. However, it's a stick, which is what I prefer. So, some plusses, some minuses - overall very happy!

Too bad this challenge is practically over, because now I'll have time and peace of mind to participate again. Or are we just going on... and on... and on... hmmm? :o)

You were fabulous with the commenting, Waddy! And I really enjoyed seeing Florida through your lens. I think it's a great idea to trickle this thread along and give updates now and again.

Day 30 I'm finally caught up!

I couldn't decide...

I would like to thank everyone for the comments. I know I owe alot of people alot of comments and I'll try to get to them in the coming days.

Thanks also to the people who put this 30 day where you live thing together. This was my first 30 day challenge and I LOVED IT!!!
I learned so much about my camera, photoshop and processeng in the last 30 days. It was fun to get comments and not worry about votes or where will it finish.

I also had alot of fun seeing where everyone lives. The people here are a wonderful group. I've gotten alot of helpful tips and a whole lot of encouraging comments from everyone. Thank you all!!!

Day 30 ... with this last view from downtown Louisville.

Well, it's been a fun and busy 30 day challenge, and since I started Feb. 1st, and today is the last day, then this must be Feb 30th. Here's the only decent image that I found today:

It's been a lot of fun and I have learned a bunch, and met a lot of new pals on line. Thanks to this challenge, I have started tinkering with Graphic Converter, which has many tools similar to Photo Shop, and have been learning how to make the images better after the capture. I also have a lot of images of the local area that I would not have taken time to get if not for this challenge helping to kick me along.
Here are a few family links that I would like to share, as I am not the only one in my family with the "artsy" slant.
Oscar Thompson, My Brother.
Oscar was an excellent film photographer, and was on the verge of becoming famous for his nature photography when he passed away in Nov. 2002. He introduced Clyde Butcher (.com) to the Everglades.
His son Doug, who took over his architectural photography, business, and now takes it to new levels in the digital domain.
His daughter, Tracie, who makes pictures instead of taking them.
Thanks again everyone, and hope to keep in touch thru DPC. I will keep going back and commenting on the pics in the challenge as I get time.
I nominate SandyP for "The Queen of Comments" crown!
And, a final question for everyone; How many images did everyone get this month, as a result of shooting for this challenge?
I think that I shot around 1.5K. over my normal 1.5 to 2K per month.
Happpy Clickin' to ya, and see you on the forums.
Waddy

Made it through. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I'll try to go through and leave more of my own as I get a chance. Thanks especially to shannylee13 for suggesting the challenge. I doubt that I ever would have gotten out to take many of these shots without the impetus of this challenge. I even learned some things about my hometown that I didn't know before...

Last day and i am late. sorry.
Just want to say this has been awesome. I feel that this has been fun and i have learned so much. i have learned about where other people live and have learned to look more at what is around me.
I am sorry i have got so far behind on my comments, i plan to go back leave more as i have time. The pictures everyone has posted has just been awesome and the comments you have left me were wonderful thanks again. My daughter still has my camera so i am posting a shot from 2 weeks ago. This i a shot of Rocky falls. It is about 2 hrs east of Walnut Grove. I was there at noon so the lite was awfull. The worst time of day to shoot waterfalls. But it is a beautiful fall so i am posting it anyway. If you are ever in this part of Mo. i would recomend stoping to see it. If its in the summer its a great place to swim below the falls.
