Hey, mine isn't that old. It's still a baby! :D
I don't care if they do upgrade the 5D, I'll be keeping mine for a while. It's an awesome camera, and it fits my hand like a glove.

Most of the "facts" reported by Engadget apparently came from a forum post which was first (?) reported here on Jan. 28. Honestly, it's rumor. Pure rumor.
Canon *does* have a next-generation flagship in queue, you can bet on it, but there is really no reliable information on it at the moment. |

If the camera is released in the USA in February, when would it be released in Australia? I want to wait for new modelsw to come out so the old models decrease in price. ;-P |

Normally, Canon releases worldwide at *about* the same time, though some areas inevitably get their shipments a little earlier. The difference is usually no more than a couple weeks. |

I am so ready for a new camera, but don't want to get one on the eve of something new. 40D (or whatever thye'll call it) is way over due. 30D wasn't enough of an upgrade for me.

no, I heard Canon is "so over" the black camera thing and all their new cameras will be silver. |

Silver clashes with the beige of the "L" lenses. ;-)

The new MF Canon looks cool. Very expandable too. I now understand the comments about a new lens mount.

I don't think anyone will make one anytime soon, but I'd like to see a digital rangefinder with a FF sensor and interchangeable lenses.

Canon should do the following. They'd make a killing:
a) release the 40D (30D was a mistake)
b) release the following new pro body.
Canon releases the new 1DL. Yes, you read that correctly, the first new "L" certified digital body. Exclusively in "L" lens white. Finally, your pro body can match your pro lenses!

That's an *old* fake. Notice the "40mm f/1.2L" lens? that one made the rounds prior to the release of the 50/1.2L. The reflections are the ones Phil uses on DPReview. |

Isn't there one already ? Ah. Edit to note that the M8 has a 1.3x crop.

Was speaking to a sports photographer on Sunday at the Rangers v Falkirk league match and he had been informed (by his employers presumably)that Canon are about to release another camera aimed at the Sports sector with new lenses in the pipeline also.
Don`t know how reliable this is but the reason he mentioned it to me was because he knew I was thinking of purchasing the 1D MKII N and his advice was to wait until the price dropped.
He works for a major photographic supply agency here in Scotland who use Canon gear for all their work..so I`m hopeful it`s more than a rumour.

Some shots from the match for anyone interested |
