This is one of my paintings that I entered into an art show in Plymouth. Oils, painted while standing on North Street. I would like some comments. |

Excellent work. I love the way you were able to capture the lighting.
I noticed you painted the power poles and transformers but not the power/cable lines. Where does an artist draw the line? When it begins to clutter the picture/painting?
Here is the large version:

Are you trying to be the next Thomas Kinkaid?

Not really, I studied under George Nick at Mass College of Art and he studied under Porter, They liked the early American Artists. By that I mean 20th century, by early, 20ies up to present. Realists. Also Hopper. |

I hope I made some sense there. |

I believe it is the Artists discretion. Myself I find the wires are distracting. I left a lot of detail out. Simplified the image. The paintings size is 30â by 16â. |

Very nice work. You handle the colors very well and you have a nice style to your brush strokes. I really enjoy these paintings.
Just apply the same creativity and energy you use in your paintings to your photography and you should be fine.

Wow! that's an awesome oil painting, Congratulations
I try from time to time to paint but this is beautiful with so much detail for oils
You have some nice clean colours and I don't think I would have noticed the power poles if they hadn't been mentioned but they do look a little odd I think you could have swopped them for street lights it would have given it a quaint look but hey you got first place so what do I know.
Great perspective. What time of the day did you paint this no cars/no people
How long have you been painting for?

I started painting 6AM on Sat Sun mornings. It took a few weeks. Very few cars at this time of day there so I only had to not paint several. Iâve been painting since I was a little boy, in the 50âs. Runs in the family. |
