hope I'm not affending people with my comments, trying to be honest and sometimes giving tips to improve the shot.

by the way, I had to give somebody a 1. It was just too gross.

edit to add: thank you Mr. Fresco. And that specific part: it was exactly my intention :P

Got your comment, thanks!

Still waiting for yours, JP. Be nice or I tell the Vegas incident!

My comment on David's photo:

"No photo known to man has been able to convey so much emotion in such a small frame. Your ability to manipulate light and shadow to achieve this glorious creation is simply astounding, I am in awe of your talent.

This work of art must adorn the walls of the Louvre, or at the very least the Detroit City Museum and Waffle House."

That seems to be a good comment so no telling about the Vegas incident!

:)

That's more like it! But you forgot to state the score at the end,

This work of art must adorn the walls of the Louvre, 4.

4?!?! I don't vote *that* high! My death scale is 1-3, just like everyone elses. :(

This is not so bad, it started at 6.2 and has been dropping ever since but that's usually the way my entries go.

The comments are great, it's so lovely when someone leaves a comment that lets you know they "get it".

Good grief! Got a negative vote, which means a 1 plus someone else bumping down at the same time. Stop that!

The low scores could be the result of the topic. It can be considered a dark topic in many voters eyes and, subconsciously, they may vote lower than usual. Just a thought.

Voted on 100 and I can't say I'm raising the average. I think sometimes difficult challenges make people simply concentrate on taking a picture that meets the challenge. They seem to forget they need to take a good picture as well. This challenge seems to have that in spades.

someone gave me an 8 to make me happy again .. i.e. to take my score back to 6+ :)

Thanks!

Just as double fair warning. I just asked for validation on a shot that clearly has a chance at a ribbon. I left a comment warning I was doing so, but I NEVER want to see a shot DQ'd because they didn't get the original submitted in time. So if you got a good picture, keep your eyes on your email...

I think DrAchoois correct with his comment "I think sometimes difficult challenges make people simply concentrate on taking a picture that meets the challenge. They seem to forget they need to take a good picture as well."

I know I was griping about my score falling - but in truth...it has some major flaws that I just let slide because of the effect I was trying to achieve. In reality, my score probably should be much lower.
