Welcome to the team!
I haven't submitted anything since the Brown challenge. I did average on that - a 5.72. Also, before that I did pet portraits, and got a 6.18. yahoo!
I haven't got anything in there right now...but hope to be able to take some shots soon...It's been so busy with the holidays and stuff. yikes! |

Thank you very much magen. Yeah, this time of the year is always very busy. I hope to submit more often.

Hey Team!
Can you guys post your pix from the completed challenges please? This way I can just come to this thread to find them & I can give a comment or two.
Also, it would be easier keeping track of our average too!
Good luck to those with current submissions!
peace

hi rooster ..
i'm not sure if i understood you in the PM ...
you'd love to have me on your team ... is that now or if someone bales?? ... let me know, coz i dont want to get all excited for nothing ...
and yeah mate ... the filter is 62mm same as my lens ... dohhhhh ... lol ..
and please take anything i say in the spirit its meant ... ie mad and possibly idiotic, but never bad or nasty ...
go check out badass thread page 2, and then you'll understand why i'd say dont take me seriously ... coz after that 'conversation' in the badass thread, when i say something even slightly facetious i then get a bit nervous ... coz i got totally misunderstood in there ... quite a trip ..

Hey Hey!
Nope no drop offs but no restrictions on the number either so welcome!
As far as I know, Ivan is still on board.
Looking forward to seeing your stuff! Be sure to post it here when the voting is done so we can all have a look!
Also, no worries on your style!

far out and EXCELLENT .. never actually thought this'd go anywhere, especially after i sent out 21 PM's last night, coz i thought all the teams were completed ...
check out badasss, i reckon ivan thinks he's in there ... as of 5th jan he was with badass ... also in the wpl site he's in their completed team ... i dont want to talk out'v line but if i see a misunderstanding happening then i'm gonna say something ... of course i could be the one to misunderstand! ... but if i do have it right then it does need to be cleared up?
i've only got one challenge going right now ... fences ... thought it was one of my best and its NOT!! ... that happens a lot ...
are you asking me to post any of my entries when a challenge finishes? or wot?
something i've wanted to know for a while ... do team members get feedback from each other re challenge entries before submission? ... like are we allowed to advise each other on wot photo'd be better etc ...
also i thought there was a limit of 7 to each team but noticed that untouchables has 9 ... couldnt work it out ..
who are the other ppl on this team?
rooster
magenmarie
slickchik
xxrozxx!!
marksimms might be interested if you've got any room? i'm not sure coz he may be starting his own team ..

Hey Roz!
Just to clear things up from the get, you are NOT allowed to talk about submissions before the challenges & we are NOT doing that here.
What we are doing is having a bit of fun by pooling our scores for an average team score. We are trying to be creative & think outside of the box when shooting & we are giving each other feedback.
Other than that, it's no-holds bar attitude here. No rules on limit or anything else. If Ivan wants to be on badass, here, or both, I really dont care. I'm in it to have fun not compete with any other team. Of course, how we want this team to be is up to all of us so suggest something if you want something. :)
Here are our teammates so far:

rooster
slickchik

Hello Team!!
Just to clarify, Rooster as far as I know this thread is just to help each other to improve and motivate each other to submit, and has nothing to do with the WPL, right?
So if what I undestand is ok, then I will be playing in the league, and also having fun with you all in this thread. Is that right? or am I in trouble? ;) cause Amy would probably kill me

Hey! Dude! You are not in trouble. As far as I am concerned, you are more than welcome to be here and anywhere else that you would like to be. We are the chill corner & remember there are no restrictions here.
I hope that you will stay with us & play & good luck over at the WPL!
Peace
Rooster

This was my pic for centered composition. I am quite happy with it, it was something different but the audience didn't buy it. LOL

Hey Ivan,
I know it blows to not have your pic appreciated but I really like this shot. You used a foto technique really well here. And remember, the audience isn't always right. :)
Love your shots before, during and after voting!

hi rooster ..
i actually thought this was a team that competed against the other wpl teams ... you sort of explained, but i still didnt catch on ...
i'm actually very happy with this team and how you're gonna work it ... to get feedback from other ppl is why i'm here after all ...
thank you for your comments on 'fenced in' ... another one i totally misjudged ... no-one but me like the 'over-exposed sky' ... it wasnt really overexposed, coz the sky was actually very washed out .. the image itself, except for the sky, was so dark that i had to create another layer and brighten it, and then clone in the lighter calves, coz in the original shot their details were hard to see coz they were too dark ...
this bit is the edit .. rooster said ...The sky is blown out and a bit distracting. I think this shot would have scored far more better if this were not the case. I can think of several things in post processing that might have correcte this. An adjustment laer of levels to darken the sky & lighten the foreground (everything else looks a bit darker compared to the blown out sky). You could also try a bit of dodging & burning too to soften up the sky.
i agree with your comments ... i've tried before to darken an area, like the sky for instance, and when its just about white dont know how to darken it ... levels hasnt worked for me ... i havnt used adjustment layers much yet ...i'm still learning .. any suggestions?
and if i go on too much for a thread let me know and i'll try to abbreviate myself ... i'm still learning the accepted behaviour here!!! lol
this is my fences entry which i thought i could get a 6.000 for!!! .. got that wrong!!
my portrait in b&w seemed to be going well, but it looks like someone may have just given it a 1 or something!! ... and altho i'm not saying that my photograph is excellent, there are some ppl out there who give out really low scores for some reason, on photographs that are amazingly good ..

Hey Guys!
I'm glad you all found the comments helpful! Had loads of fun looking thru your pix & portfolios. Some amazing stuff there.
Roz, there are no rules here otehr than the obvious. Be as long-winded as you'd like, I promise to read thru everything you write.
I will look into adjusting blown out whites & hit you back. Maybe do some experimenting to see what different techniques might work.
Peace
Rooster

... fenced in ...
Comment by magenmarie:
Hello from a teammate! I really like this shot as well. I personally would have liked to see a tighter crop on the cows....they seem a tad far away...IMO. Also, maybe if you had tweaked the colors a little bit more, it may look brighter. Overall it's a really nice shot. ~Magen
hi magen ... great to meet you!!!
thankyou for your nice comment on 'fenced in' ..
i actually did try a tighter crop, but thought that it took away from the fence with its perspective etc ... i think you're right tho, coz with the tighter crop you would still see the fence but the cows would come closer and be more in your face, which would've improved the shot ...
i really liked this shot of yours in the brown challenge ..
simple, effective and different ... you have an excellent portfolio and i'm looking forward to seeing more stuff ... you have just been added to my favs ...
this is a quote from your profile ..
I am klutzy, dorky, and I'm not afraid to be a goofball. I'm always trying to lose those extra 10 pounds. I am a family girl. I believe everything happens for a reason.
i reckon we'll get on!!! ... i'm not afraid to be an idiot, in fact i cant help it ... and i am a very big believer that everything happens for a reason ... that belief certainly takes a lot of the worry out of those little day to day things that could get you down ... also the big things, coz we dont know the future ...
i'm really enjoying meeting new ppl in dpc and looking at all the different personalities coming out in their photographs .. its wonderful being able to share my obsession, photography etc, with other like minded ppl ...
roz
ps. rooster gave me his permission to be as long winded as i like ... reckon he'll regret those words!!!

Awww...you're so kind! Thank you for the compliments and kind words, roz. :) I really appreciate it. And I wanted to say that I totally understand about why you didn't crop your fence entry. When I made the comment, I sort of spaced out about "fences" and was just looking at it as a nice picture. OOPSie! :)
And thanks for the fav add! I totally appreciate that!
:)
Glad to meet you as well!
