Would the show be better if the format was a 1 hour show...10 minutes or less of the host/co-host talking and 40 minute interview with 10 minutes wiggle room in case the interview or discussion goes long? |
iTunes is working yippee, downloading the interview now.
I think a lot of the feedback would be based on Joey's popularity here.
The structure of part member interview and part discussion works well for me. I enjoy hearing what has been going on in the forums and what views members have on those forum discussions.
Keep up the good work.

Where's the picture of the lens hood they were talking about?
Nice interview, it was long but that's how interviews sometimes are... |

It's been gone for a long time... I would have to dig it up. I had a friend of mine airbrush flames on the lenshood of my Canon 70-200 lens. I'll make another one sometime soon and put it back on here.. :)

I kind of want to raw the body of my 1N, but something tells me it wouldn't be as good an idea as doing the frame of my bike... I should get some old broken SLR to practice on.
Plus, I don't know how copper or whatever it's made of looks without paint, probably not too hot. |

Great job on Episode 7, guys! I liked the Joey Whatshisname interview quite a bit! I like that style of interview - more loose, etc.
The other banter stuff was good as well, but maybe ran a little long on single subjects (i.e. HDR and the rules issues) - just my opinion though - I have a short attention span and like more fast-moving chatter. :) It's one of those things where you have to keep track of how much you've been yakking about the same subject and find a jumping off point. I listened to the Peterson interview and thought the same thing there, although he would come up with some interesting and unique insights, so it was hard to fast-forward past some of it.
Keep it up though - you guys get better each time and I think everyone appreciates it and want you to feel like it is worth the effort.
Looking forward.

I've only had time to listen to the first part so far, but it's good stuff. The sound quality is still pretty reasonable, and the filesize is much more manageable than previously. As for the content, a little more research on HDR beforehand would have helped make that segment flow a little quicker, but it's good that you're asking questions from a more inexperienced users' point of view. A beginners guide/discussion of a particular DPC-friendly technique or suchlike each week might be worth considering, thinking about it... Finally, it may help to have 3 people in the mix rather than just 2, to turn it into a more dynamic discussion, but that's just IMHO ;o)

As always, thanks for taking time to provide all the feedback. It was nice to hear that someone listened to part 1 and that the immediate answer wasn't "we really don't want to hear you and Laurie talk!" LOL We'll keep working on improving the show content. Thanks again.
I'll post the questions in the thread starter here and see how it looks at the DPC site too. It's a fairly long questionaire and I don't know if it will truncate on the website we are using or not.

iTunes still isn't working.
No matter, I've reverted to the manual DL route.
Let you know what I think. But overall, I'd prefer that these keep coming, they are quite enjoyable. |

We're getting mixed information on the iTunes issue. Some say it is working and others say it is not. I think more likely than not it's not working so we're still working to resolve the issue. |

Aswesome podcast. Sweet job Lee! I think it helped that Joey was always offering up stuff instead of waiting always to be asked questions.

I just got a chance to listen to some of the podcasts and I wanted to express how much I appreciate your work on the podcasts.
The chance to hear people speak in their own way about their association with DPC and their interest in photogaphy bring so much dimension and texture to the site.
I think this should be an official part of the site because of just how important this kind of resource is to an internet photo site.
Anything I can do to help let me know to help make sure this resource continues.
Thanks again lkn4truth and L2! |

Thanks for the glowing praise hokie! The DPC podcast is listed on the dpc challenge website under community projects and I think that's all the further the "official" part will go. However, if it is any consolation we have had feedback from the site owners that they too listen to the podcast (at least sometimes) and that they agree its a valuable addition to the site.
The only help we need right now is just figuring out how to get this podcast recognized by iTunes so those who have iTunes and subscribe easily and those in the outside world might find DPC by searching for such key words as "digital photography" in an iTunes search engine. Personally, I'd like to focus on recording the show and light editing and leave all the technical stuff like hosting the show, getting it set up in iTunes, etc to someone else. Sea2c (Steve) has been great by offering a free place to host the show and doing as much as he can but this is all a volenteer project and is very time consuming. Any help that would take some of the burden from us would be great. |

Answer "D" seems a little far-fetched to me. What kind of heartless freak would propose something like that? :-P

OK, I'm an iPod newbie and I can't get the damn podcasts onto the little piece of crap, which I'm about to flush down the toilet. I saved the MP3's to my HD and imported them into iTunes, and can play them on my PC through iTunes, but when I try to synch my nano I get an error saying no-go, can't find the files.
I must be the biggest idiot on earth not to be able to figure out Apple software! I'm going to be spending half my day in airports tomorrow and was hoping to be able to listen to these podcasts.
I wonder what would happen if I put my nano in the microwave???

I've also tried adding a couiple of addresses to "Subscribe to Poscast" in iTunes, but neither were accepted. Is there some secret address to use? I had high hopes for this address : //www.dpcpodcast.com/?cat=2

Nevermind. I finally got the little bugger to synchronize. I think microwaving it on high for three minutes helped.

This makes me kind of sad because, being deaf, I can't follow the podcasts. Any chance of getting a transcription service working?

Sorry to hear about the continuing iTunes woes!!!
As far as a transcript goes....whoa! Talk about a lot of work. I'm certainly not typing up the transcript by hand. Does anyone know of any software that does it automatically or does anyone have like WAY too much time on their hands and would be willing to transcribe the show? That indeed would be neat if we could do that but I only know the old manual typing by hand way and I just don't have that much time. As it is a show takes me about twice as long to edit and post as it does to record so if I have an hour podcast it takes MINIMUM three hours to produce the show and usually much longer since we keep having to work on technical difficulties. Sorry Bear, I'll work on options to get a transcript for you if I can!

I never really got into the podcast thing cause I'm not very technical and I thought maybe you had to have an ipod to listen and i dont!
However I have discovered its as easy as clicking on a button on your computer! I have been listening all morning while working to episode 8 and working my way through previous ones.
Lee you are doing a great job and thanks very much for the extra effort you put in, yes there are some technical issues L2 inparticualr sounds very far away and tinny but overall well worth listening :)
