I'm just using PS7. I never knew you could do this. I think I will have to upgrade to cs2. I think...this could really help with my time exposures or in this case imatation time exposures(I don't know if it will work but it sure is getting the juices flowing). Unfortunately I can't get a copy of cs2 in under 24 hours. So goodluck to everyone, I'll have to sit this one out. |

I wouldn't upgrade for the HDR as it's not that great built in, but the other added benifits of going from 7 to CS2 are well worth it. |

Here is an example of an HDR image I shot. Too bad the weather here is not going to cooperate too well for this challenge.

I was thinking, does the photo need to have this HDR look (see: //flickr.com/search/?q=hdr&s=int)? I was thinking about just doing it manually, without using any hdr program. I would then Import the the different exposure into one psd file and and use the layer mask to get detail in every area. |

For the many of us without the fancy HDR software, this is the only option, so I'd expect so.
Really I think you just need to produce a tonally rich image I suppose. God knows what the DNMC police will make of this one. |

Weather for our area...
Today: Rain. High near 55F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
...and the forecasters didn't quite get it right, as there was a couple inches of rainwater in the horse feed buckets this morning already and it's still coming down hard. :(
I suppose I could take something today that using HDR would enhance, but I'm guessing that if a challenge entry isn't full of bright color and interesting skies, you're out of luck (scorewise). Hmmm...oh well. Good luck to all that enter, and have fun! |

Do you think the three winners on the home page from the landscape challenge have the look of an hdr? Just wondering if one could compete using only one capture? |

Just read the other hdr thread. I see what the problem would be using one image for a true hdr file. Still wondering if the "look" was captured though on those top three in the landscape challenge. |

You can use one image to make it all work. Just have to foll the computer. And nothing says that HDR has to use software specific to HDR. By processing one image multiple times and using layers you can do the same. Maybe a bit more manual work, but still doable. And if anyone objects to masks, then just deleted the area of the layer you dont' want... |

Could be worse...Woke up this morning to find this challenge, AND snow covered ground. So it's white all over. NOT GOOD for HDR.
Won't be in either, unless we get to see a bit of blue in the sky.
Good Luck all! |

Today would be a good day for a low dynamic range challenge. Too bad this is a speed challenge!

I'm in the same boat here: overcast and threatening rain. Low Dynamic Range weather if I've ever seen any :-(

This challenge is a little advanced for me....I'll sit this one out, grab a cozy chair and a warm mug o' somethin' when the voting starts, and ENJOY the talent! |
