Getting ready to leave for a gtg photography shoot at a cemetery. Postcard, perspective, YWB opportunity?

Postcard - "Wish you were here". Perfect!

Feet are killing me! Saw most of Wiesbaden and some of Mainz by foot, and got lost at both ends dealing with trains. But it was fun! I may even have pictures. It was a high ISO kind of day, though - very gray out.

As for B&W, I have a whopping 2 comments. I did, however, get my Posthumous comment on the picture I *was* going to enter until I wimped out.

LOL. Wish someone would submit cemetery with "with you were here". Or wish I had thought of it myself. I'm afraid my entry isn't that creative.

Meleithia,
How are your kitty cats doing? How are you liking Deutchland thus far? I'm really envious. I'll bet you will have some FANTASTIC photo opps!

Cats are doing pretty well, though they're not happy every third day or so when they have to go in their cages while I'm gone. Housekeeping needs to come in at least once every three days and the cats can't be out when they do.

Tromped around a bit more today, though it was raining and cold so my dad and his wife opted to just hang out at the hotel they're at. We had a nice leisurely lunch. This after I'd taken a seriously long way to the train station in the morning (not intentionally) and discovered that trains run kinda behind on Sundays.

Trying to do laundry. There aren't very many machines and there are a LOT of people in this hotel. When I checked upon my return, there were two open machines. In the time it took to come upstairs, get my things, and head back down, they were both taken. I'll try again in a few. Nice thing is the machines show how much time is left so I know when to go back down.

As for pictures - none today - I didn't even take my camera out. I did get a few yesterday. I'm probably going to create a "Friends and Family" folder in my portfolio with pics so I can provide a link to folks who ask for pictures. Y'all (Texas term - sticks with ya) are welcome to peruse and enjoy as time permits.

I just realized that rollovers will occur when I'm getting ready for work. Not good! (Nacht gut?)

Oh, and I'm VERY good at "Sprechen sie Englisch?" I'm working on "Ich spreche nicht Deutch."

What I can recommend for anyone wanting to move to Germany - very comfortable shoes and sturdy feet. :-)

Calling all Hoovers!

Go here to see this week's nominations, then send me a PM to let me know your choices. I've left nominations open until rollover tonight - so let me know sometime on Monday, whenever Monday is for you. :-)

I wish someone would but it won't be me. My postcard is not from the cemetary but it's also not a typical one so I expect to be ignored or booed!

The cemetary was beautiful and quiet and the ginko trees provided some late fall colors.

I entered one for Postcards. Believe it or not, I predict a 6. We'll see about that!
11/19/2006 09:13:46 PM · #1083
Are any fellow suckees planning to enter perspective? I've got one in - I predict solid but not outstanding score. Postcard, hoping for high 5 / low 6 area but I may be wildly off.

I'm having a bad week. Sorry OOFers. I'm not in postcards. Hopefully I'll find something to inspire me for one of the open challenges this week. I checked my camera and I haven't taken a single picture since the 9th. Can you say depressed slump? ;P

I'll be in perspective, I have a couple of suckers to work with... unless I stumble across something that just screams 1966...

I'm in perspective also. I seem to be on a 4-streak so I predict mid-4's for postcard and perspective.

Hey Team Minus'ers. I've been dealing with some "real life" annoyances which have prevented me from getting in some camera time. I'm not in anything being judged now, nor do I expect to get anything in for Tuesday's deadline. I expect to be in a scenic part of Iowa next week, and maybe the challenges will be compatible with that.
11/19/2006 11:47:27 PM · #1089
"Scenic" and "Iowa"... hmmm. I'm in postcards and it won't do well for several reasons I won't mention here. I may also be in perspective. And Kelli, don't let this place keep you from shooting. Shoot anyway. :-)

I'm in postcard and perspective. Both entries make me laugh, so I don't know how the voters will react. I got a 1941 shot today, but I think I'll stay with perspective, just for the fun of it. I'm no good at predicting scores yet.

Well, I'm having the best week I've had in about 2 months. B&W finished a hair above 50%: 211/423. :)

Spots is sitting pretty at 5.8. It's risen .2 in the past few days, but it's probably about out of steam.

I really, really like my postcard entry. So far it's gotten a 5 and two 6s, so we'll see how it goes. Don, maybe you and I can both nail a 6+. :)

I'd love to get into year you were born, but I just don't have any hippie stuff (1967). Instead, I'm in perspective with a shot I like a lot, but probably doesn't whack people over the head with perspective.

Edited to add: Hmm. Someone entered the shot I really would've loved to take in postcards. And I didn't put a border on mine - I hope people don't vote lower for that.

That's a right purty score you got there! I'm at 5.3, which is about where I figured to be with this one.

4.9 to start with on Postcards, with 3 comments already. This is my highest number of comments at this time so far. I hope it continues and I get lots of comments.

Levy~
The rolling thunder photo (motorcycles) was one of my faves of b&w. Great shot!

Postcard is doing so-so at 5.44
How are other postcards doing?

Levy and Posthumous, great scores!!! Hope they hold and can't wait to see everyone's postcards.

Life is getting in the way of shooting for challenges. I got a lot of my son's 15th birthday Saturday, but I'm not entered in anything this week yet. Maybe I'll have something by Tuesday...

Spots is doing better than I predicted.

It's not this place, it's me. ;P I tend to get this way around the beginning of cold weather. I hate the cold. I have to drag myself out of bed in the mornings for a while (and I'm a perky morning person too!) until I get past it. I love spring, summer and I'm OK with fall. But, I despise winter.
