What one doesn't find, one can make. Then again, this is not a bad place to start. Perhaps it's time the site council be given more creative control over the future of dpc (and the site council, or some portion thereof, should be elected in some way). That may already be the case, but based on previous discussions, I assume not. It's clear that while drew and langdon have a vested interested in dpc, their strengths lie in some technical areas of web development, but arguably not in photography (except has casual hobby). |

Other than saying 'looking' I should have said 'pushing' for here for many months. It was pretty clear that the things I would like to see (mostly less arbitary and pointless rules) were not what the majority wanted and the overwhelming opinion seemed to be that if you don't like it here, go find it somewhere else. Since then, I've been asking for people to point out where that happens to be - I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
We even had a vote where the result, depending on how you view it , either said overwhelmingly keep the rules the way they are, or overwhelmingly throw the rules away, or overwhelmingly lets be a digital art site. (the drawback of having a vote where 2 sets of 2 of the options overlap out of the 3 suggestions)

Well, as you know Gordon, I am in complete agreement with you. My interest is in producing as good a quality of photos as I am able to and I find it progessively more frustrating to not be able to use many of the new techniques I have learned for photos that I submit to this site. I have created many PS actions that involve the use of layers and area selections to speed up my editing time as well as for improving the quality of my images. For some Dpchallenge entries I've come close to inadvertantly selecting one of these actions and then stopped short when I realized that it would be illegal editing and instead had to decide on a less appealing, but legal, method. The real irony is that my sole intent is to create images that only maintain the integrity and photgraphic qualities of the original and not to create something else intirely but creating something else intirely and extreme looking is still possible using the current "legal" tools. Go figure.

Agreed. I don't think polls are entirely the best way to go about making these decisions, although they do provide interesting numbers on the number of people who actually participate on DPC. I guess voting against change is a way to vote against not being left behind.
I still think the site council should have more say in where DPC is going. But the site council is as static as the rules. Change can't be all that bad; it's happening all the time.
Good luck in your efforts to be the change you'd like to see. Gordon for President? |

I'am sorry. I was in a hurry to get out the door.
We were going to sign our bank papers.
I through it together quickly.
