It's still under warrenty (utill June 2007) so I'm returning it today after work. That noramlly takes two week to go away and come back, unless the replace it but we'll see.

So I'm out of any challenge or WPL until then.

I only have this crappy work laptop that I can't install and editting software on.

I'm still on the email and on the forums and in the Free Study XIII challenge (being hammered!).

Rock on!

I dont think it will even be starting for a few weeks yet so lets hope it gets sorted.. Hate to loose a member before the whistle blows

Just taken in the iBook and they going to send it away, so that's three weeks gone there!

It's going to kill me! I bet the next three weeks of challenge are ones that I can think of killer shots for!

As a Team, What are the rules as far as discussing entries, giving advice etc.... I assume we should keep which entry is ours hushed til the challenges are over. But in same part assume it is ok to share ideas. Example. I or someone has two great ideas but obviously can only use one, pass the other idea on to a team member that might need help coming up with something?

10/04/2006 02:23:53 PM · #105
I don't think it is a good idea to share to many specifics
We do want to keep this as clean as possible
10/04/2006 02:28:36 PM · #106
the discussion of ideas is all good but showing pics is not on but i feel sharing techniques and giving advice is all part of the learning process and goes on in and out of team play ..

I dont see any harm in offering ideas in conversation and/or tips and advice to attain a certain look or feel one is trying to get for a photograph
10/04/2006 02:31:11 PM · #107
I would think that if ideas are shared then you should not vote in that particular challenge. I know its common for other members to share and in some cases even see anothers entry. I'm not saying we should do this but if its being done then don't vote in that challenge. Just seems fair to me.

you guys all settled in on team members then? I came about this a bit late... and somehow doubt that my photos are liked well enough to join a team anyway. However, in support of the Nikonites... Go team!

I just had a look at some of your photos. Nice shots. You should be able to find a team. Or start one yourself. I am sure there are plenty of Nikon people that would hop on board with you.

also keep an eye on this thread. It will be awhile before this all starts, just incase someone has to drop out and we need a replacement.

not sure if you were looking at my DPC profile or my website, but if you have time to look at the better shots, you'll find em here: //www.m2imageworks.com

Are there defined rules for teams anywhere that I can read or is it fairly open in regards to organization?

thanks.

I agree.
As for sharing images, IMHO it's best not to share them. It's not against the rules per se to have a couple people view your images, e.g., your spouse or friend - what's definitely against the rules is vote influencing. The problem with sharing images is that it works a bit like influencing, even if unintentional. So, IMO, it's best not to share in general.

For myself, I also prefer not to vote in challenges where I'm participating, although I do from time to time. I think I can be fair enough to not give everyone else a 1 and myself a 10, but just to keep things above board, I usually do not vote in challenges where I participate. But there's not problem voting in challenges where you participate.

BTW - I'm on the road through Sunday, with limited (very) internet, so if I don't answer something .....

almost always have SOMETHING ;)
coming to an end is a 6.15'ish in unrelated
& a 6ish in HCII...

my prediction for "no face port." will be 5.3 ....
haven't shot my woody/ducky yet ... but have a excellent idea ..
10/08/2006 09:43:21 PM · #116
my free study photo got puked on by the voters, my unrelated photo is doing ok hovering just below 6.0 and I just submitted to the faceless challenge. Probably a 5.5 if I am lucky but knowning the way the voters have been lately I wouldn't be surprised by a 5.0 or lower.

when do we start keeping score as a team?

edit:

as expected for faceless challenge.
