I am torn.. I have already taken a few bokeh shots but not really happy with them. Was going to try a after the game shot tomorrow and see what I can come up with.
Glad you suggested next challenge instead of current. I entered a bomb in the lighting challenge 4.2 yuk! my Morning entry isn't much better, It is sitting at 4.8 having a bad week here. lol

I also managed to get some nice shots over the past couple of days for the Oct Free Study.

anyone else on the team entering that?

I've been working on "bokeh", don't have anything for it yet. I doubt I'll get something for "game over", honestly the topic does not interest me at all.

I'm not sure about October Free Study. Nothing from October strikes me as super good (so far). Got a week and a couple days to go.

MAK - "skank", is that a British expression? Neat word.
10/21/2006 11:11:47 PM · #157
whoops...
already entered a "bokeh"
got a nice one today--

entered a best of Oct (that i may re shoot as well)

trains i'm having issues with ... :(

morning is sitting 5.2 ish
and Oxymoron is 5.1 ish
oh well ..

10/21/2006 11:18:18 PM · #158
The only one I have in right now is oxymoron, and it's at around 5.25. Oh well.

i have a feeling the word skank has a different meaning in the UK than it does in the US.
10/21/2006 11:52:08 PM · #160
Oh my, I didn't even know it meant anything in the US. I had never heard that word before. Oh well.

It means many things in the UK as well as the US meaning, it can mean 'on the sly, borrow somthing....i.e. a wireless connection without anyone knowing!'

my lighting shot is at 5.75 I have a few for bokeh and after the game is a tough call but ill try.. i have a decent best of oct shot

I'm in the oct free study.
my kids and I have been sick all week and just have not had the energy to shoot anything.

I didn't make the deadline for the challenge lastnight. It was my sons Bday and I totally forgot all about the challenge. Shame too because I got a nice shot that would have been a good bokeh entry. Oh Well I have been entering some pretty sloppy work the past couple of challenges perhaps i need a break from the update button before we start the WPL.

10/25/2006 11:43:56 AM · #165
me neither.

OK we have a whole week....which one shall we try?
10/25/2006 11:51:28 AM · #166
Come on, guys! Get yourselves out there and start shooting!!!!

I would like to try "portrait in landscape" for next week. It's a hard one, but awfully interesting.

My bokeh is doing good (but I don't like the picture, it's really dumb).
10/25/2006 11:58:58 AM · #167
i have a "landscape in portrait" in mind
my bokeh is moving up 4.5 to 5.2 now ... sigh ..

10/25/2006 12:06:55 PM · #168
I have ideas for both. I just need the time to do one of them. Going out with my Camera this afternoon for a couple of hours maybe I will stumble across a landscape portrait.

the only challenge I am in right now is the Train Challange and I think my entry might have been hit by a train. It is struggling big time. I should have not entered it. But wanted to play. Will have to work real hard now to bring my average back up from the hit it will take from this one. I guess it doesn't hurt to get the worst out of my system before the WPL. :-)

I'm lucky that I have a studio practical tomorrow at my local camera club. Turn the camera landscape, sign a model release and 'Hey Presto, I'm the besto' I have an entry.

On a serious note, I'd like to to Portrait in Landscape, because I think it will be harder to do well....big hitters will be out playing, so I reckon it'll be more challenging.

I would taken a landscape portrait yesterday but it involved standing in the middle of a street to get the image i wanted. The traffic was intense and I am not crazy about using crutches so I passed on the op. I am 99% sure i will still go for a landscape in portrait pic. mainly because I have a serious lack of willing models, And much like everyone on this planet have an endless supply of willing land to photograph. Just have to watch out for Farmers protecting the land from hunters etc. Dont want to give new meaning to the words getting a shot.

Well I'va had my studio portrait and there are two, from which I will enter one, that are my favourite.

Developed in Lightroom, just needs some Photoshop work, and it's ready.

I also have my Free Study 14 entry ready.

Can't wait for Wednesday morning!

Hey guys and lady

I done portrait in landscape and it ROCKS harder than status quo. I know it aint voter friendly because i do photography to please ME!

When WPL starts I will surcum to the eyecandy but for now Im going with my personal taste.

My Bokeh entry is at 5.5 and people are saying DOF is NOT Bokeh.. I say its a thin line.

PURPLEFIRE - As I have said many times dude you dont live far from me and i have a home crap studio set up and a MAC so anytime you need it just come over (email me first of cause to get my phone number)

FINALLY - COME ON TEAM !!! Don't worry about low scores just yet because our team average will be nice and low, but when the WPL starts we HAVE to level up and we HAVE to enter challenges.

We have a solid team here with a variety of styles GO TEAM NIKON-D!

MAK, I got my mac back already. I can't wait for Wednesday for the voting to start!

Thanks again for the offer. Are you free on Sat 18th to go shooting?

Yes I am free to go shooting that day. I recently moved to Hitchin and have a small set up with lights maybe i can find a model to shoot or we can go off landscape shooting, whatever.

MAK, getting a model and doing studio sounds like a great idea.

Let me know what you can arrange.

Cheers,

Iain
