looking at the thumbnails, i see a lot of non-purple subjects converted to purple in PS. Is that good, bad or doesn't matter?

Why would it matter? As long as the image features purple, it should pass muster. ;-) |

It shouldn't matter, as long as it's well- and legally- done. The description said to "show or suggest" purple, not strictly to "photograph" purple :)
eta PS;
Sometimes it's done in-camera with custom white-balance, rather than in photoshop. In "Green" I added some extra colour this way.
