Wow...my purple entry just broke 5.0.

It keeps creeping upwards slowly. This gives me hope as I've got an upcoming entry that I think is much better and was shot at the same time. I'm hoping that if this gets a 5.0 that my other one might get a 6.0

Well mine has limped it's way up to 4.5519 I must say I don't know how, by virtue of the fact that it's purple I guess. I've learnt something in this challenge. Never, ever to enter a photo that I'm not happy with, it was rushed and the best of a bad bunch but looking at it every day...it's just not fun. I hate it more every time I look at it and it's never going to go away. Even if it romped up to a 6 I still wouldn't like it. So a note to myself only to enter photos that I like looking at.

I have to admit that this seems to be a strange challenge in regards to the scores (everyone seems to have very low scores - except for some rare odities out there-haha) and I for one loved my entry, think I have pretty good judgement as to what my score might be but this???

I agree that most people seem to be getting pretty low scores. The strange thing for me is that the comments I'm receiving are not consistant with the score. Five of the nine comments are very positive. Two are positive but say how it might be improved (the most helpful imo). One is negative with suggestions (also very helpful) but said he/she gave a 5. And one is very negative with no explanation.

So, lets say my commenters would score this way:

5 gave 6's (w/comments like "fantastic" some of these are surely >6)
3 gave 5's
1 gave a 1

Then my commenter average is at least 5.111.

This btw is up from the 4.07 it was at most of the week.

I think I know why its scoring the way it is, but it would be nice if more people would say it so I could be sure. I think voters are making an assumption (or two) about my photo that isn't true. But, I can understand that; if I hadn't been the photographer, I might make the same assumptions.

Oh well, I'm here to learn. (but it sure would be nice to win someday)

Well, my purple pic is faring much better than my abstract macro. But, I'm having a good time with the whole challenge process. I'm really inspired by all of the photographers here!!!

I now no to make a copy of my photo before pulling it in to photoshop for editing, the second it enters PS it is tagged with PS and will not be excepted as a original.

At least the score is on an upward climb, with 2 of the 6 comments being constructive. It seems the voters like certain aspects of my shot. So much for soft focus around the centerpiece of my photo and not tweaking any color in PS. This gives me a better sense of what types of shots to do for the next challenge!
