Gordon, I was wondering the same thing.

For example, dropping a rock off a building. Most people would definitely say the rock is falling, not flying. But is the rock "in flight"?

But what about a bullet coming out of a gun? Is the bullet "flying" through the air and therefore "in flight"?

What about a football thrown by a quarterback? Is the ball "in flight" since it can't stay aloft on its own accord?

How about a somebody running away from something they are afraid of? (The human "fight vs. flight" mechanism.) Are they "in flight"?

White Bronco being chased by the cops at slow speed on the highway. Is the Bronco "in flight"?

Questions... questions...

The moon revolving around the earth, is the moon in flight?

The earth revolving around the sun, are we all in flight?

Ok, so this is stretching it...

notice the topic didn't say the subject had to be flying (on it's own accord).. it has to be "in flight" .. i guess you can take that however you like :)

ummmm....I wonder if cat juggling would do well in this challenge...the cats would be propelled into a short flight for a short distance of time.

James

P.S. for the animal lovers.... Im a big animal lover myself.... and would never harm an animal, so the above statement is a joke....

Some more info about that Halsman portrait of Dali. 6 hours of work and 28 attempts....

and some very annoyed cats. I guess at least he didn't blow up the chicken in the background like they planned.

My friend used to make little parachutes out of hankerchiefs(sp?)and then he'd take the cats to the top of the barn, attach the parachutes and drop them down onto the haystack. None of them got hurt except him; when the cats would scratch him. He grew up to be a pilot.
The cat juggling comment reminded me of him.
