That's very sweet of you, but honestly, I was, all growing up, the homeliest person you ever saw. Bad haircuts, stupid clothes, no awareness of facial expressions, and an avid interest in books and various nerdy things... kids were very cruel. It stuck with me. Doing 30 days of self-portraits helped exorcise those demons to a great extent (more so than anything else including years of happy marriage and kids who of course think I'm the most beautiful Mommy in the world). Not that I still don't have issues. Also, all photos of me that look anything other than homely are retouched. ;-)

Is there no way to comment on photos up on Photobucket? If that's the case, I may have to change my self portrait site.

Hey, you haven't even seen me yet, as I do NOT show my ugly OLD mug! But I will... for the sake of artistic expression.... whimper....

Count me in, if not just to learn a ton. Probably won't be able to do it every day, but I'll try.

Site: //www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=44579&collection_id=17343

Edit: Do we just post pictures on our "site" or do we have to post them in a forum as well?

OK, OK. I'm also oldish but look way older than I am, except from a distance. So maybe I'll stick with the distance shots... how far away will those remote control thingies work, anyway?

Couple of questions - I'll assume we're not checking exif. :-) In other words, I may have to take a couple on the same day simply due to time and light constraints, then space 'em out. Goal is to get 30, right?

I'll assume the same DPC rules apply if you have someone else press the shutter for you - ie do all the setup yourself to the point the shutter needs to be pressed. Not that I've thought of anyone who can press the shutter for me but I do have an idea that would require that.

Finally, I doubt I'm gonna get much that's "artistic" but I'd love it if Art/Ken would drop by with hints on Photoshopping one's self.

You could always set the timer then run REALLY fast! :P

I'm in pawpad.spaces.live.com

Should prove interesting...

Is there an up-to-date list of participants so we can link to em from our external site?

Also does anyone use spaces.live.com that I should add to my friends list there?

Did you miss the part about oldish? The knees are probably the oldest part... I don't run really fast. Then again, I never did run really fast.... :-) I know, at least one day, I'll feature my knees. Body parts count, right?

I have a question for the other participants: why are you putting your shots somewhere else?

Is it a matter of not having enough remaining portfolio space here (or not even having a DPC port for registered users), professional reasons for having these visible elsewhere, or what?

I just assumed my DPC port was the best spot, but then I noticed others choosing differently, which made me wonder about the reasons; maybe I should choose something else, too.

Thanks!

I've just never done a Blogspot thingie before and it looked like fun. Besides, that means the folks doing the 30 day thing will know where to look and folks randomly wandering through DPC portfolios won't see it. Or something like that.

Actually it's because JP did it. :P

starts tomorrow. I'm in (again). I'm really going to try this time. Haven't taken any self portraits in a while because people are sick of them. This will be a good excuse.

I was curious about that too... I assumed my space here was the best place, so I'm just going to use that.

With all the members of my comments group in this challenge I couldn't help but join too. I will be here. Besides, my mother wants a picture of me (as only a mother would) so I ought to come up with something in 30 days.
