...on the internet.

The only other thing I do on my day off besides sleep, or play with the kids.

I went to craigslist.com and saw this ad for a photog to take pictures at a function. Pays cash.

So, I replied.

After a couple of immeadiate emails, and one phone call from me it turns out that the job is to follow a tv/video interviewer at an anti-drug conferance for the asian community.

I got to talking to the obviously young voice on the other end of the conversation. The young lady is a "producer" of some sort and works on indie films for the asian market.

She wanted to know if I was flexable with my photography?

" I am very flexable" I said.

She wanted to know what kind of equipment I had. If it were the same as the 'poparazzi' use.

I said could be at times.

She wanted to know my rate.

I told her.

She seemed very excited talking to me.

She wanted to know if I would travel out of country to some film set. They would fly me out, for about a week at a time, all expenses paid.

I said I probly could.

My game plan is to go to this gig. Get there early to recon the venue. Leaving my gear in my vehicle. Meet with this young producer. Actually get a feel for what is going on.

If all is well, and I feel comfortable, this may be my avenue to something differant in my life, not to mention in my career.

Is there any other advice that I can get to protect myself?

What is the going rate for a gig like this?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds a lot like the potential to be porn using underaged unwilling participants. Be very careful.

I would see about getting copies of previous work under the guise of knowing what the company's expectations are. And if they're kiddie pornish or snuffish in any way, turn everything over to the FBI. Definitely ask about the content at the very least, and if you go, make sure that someone stateside ALWAYS knows your itinerary. If they want to go somewhere unexpected, make a phone call first. And google the company to the nth degree.

Be careful Horse. See if you can find out where you are going first.

Some of us live in Asia and might be able to lend a hand in checking something out... I could probably check some stuff out in central to northern Taiwan.

Others are in Japan.... Be careful in Mainland China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand... stuff does happen.

Oh and of course, don't forget to come visit! ;)

So, in further emails with this young producer girl, Ms. Lorna, everything is a go.

A couple of updates.

Coinsidentally (sp), my 'day job' will be right down the street, shooting a scene, from the venue I am supposed to go to. So, this gives me a chance to do some question asking while there.

Also, for those that can do any research, she told me that her company business is call BL Business And Lifestyle Magazine. They cover Orange County, LA, and Vegas.

OH, I forgot another detail.

This is for the Asian American Drug Abuse Program, AADAP. I found their website pretty easily.

It's a charity event that I am to cover, following an interviewer around.
